. One Buck Makes 4- A List,
5 Others Honorable Mention
One Hoke High player landed a
spot and five others were named as
honorable mention to the South
eastern 4-A All-Conference Foot
ball Team.
Earnie Pecora was the only Hoke
player to be picked for the 1976 list.
A senior, the six feet, one inch. 185
pound Pecora provided consistent
blocking which was a major factor
in the Bucks offense this year. He
has been a starter for the past two
seasons.

Everybody's back from Thanks
giving vacation now. trying to get
all the work in before the six weeks
is up. which is today! It's been very
hectic tor everyone lately with
concerts, parades, club meetings,
and everything else that has to be
done at school that has been piling
up. not to mention all the school
work that manages to get squeezed
in somehow!
The Health Careers Clubi visited
the Open Arms Rest Home for
| Thanksgiving on November 23rd.
The members of the club talked
and visited with the patients,
"presented them with a fruit bowl,
and served them cake and ice
cream.
The Hoke High Band traveled to
Laurinburg this past Monday.
November 29th to participate in
their annual Christmas Parade.
The band won first place honors
over ten bands, from area schools

Commission men's basketball
league which begins Dec. 6. Games
are Monday and Thursday nights
at 7 and 8:15 p.m.

Golf Tournament

Friday. Dec. 3 is the deadline for
entries in the "Super Ball" Golf
Tournament to be held Saturday,
Dec. 4 at the Mid Pines Club in
Southern Pines.
The one - day tournament is
being held in conjunction with the
1976 Christmas Seal Campaign
being conducted by the Mid ? State
Lung Association which serves
Hoke County.
Entries may be made by calling
Jim Boros (692-2114) or the
Mid-State Lung office (944-1098).
Teams of four people consisting of
all men. all ladies, or mixed will
participate. The entry fee of SI 2
per person includes greens fee. golf
cart, and prizes.
All proceeds from this special
holiday tournament will go to the
Mid - State Lung Association to be
used in its program of work with
lung disease patients and medical
Riearch.

band is now moving toward starting
rehearsals for the Spring Concert in
May. The band has been very
successful this year and everyone's
really proud of them.
Everyone is invited to the Ki
wanis Pancake Supper on Thurs
day. December 9th. Everybody can
come eat and then buy (hopefully!)
at the Hoke Music Booster Club
Bazaar. The pancake supper will
be held in the Gibson Cafeteria and
the bazaar in classrooms next to the
cafeteria. Both are from 5 p.m.
until 9 p.m. There will be many
different things for sale at the
bazaar and proceeds will go to all
music organizations at Upchurch
and Hoke High. So everybody come
out and eat. buy and have a good
time!

Vernon Morrison (offensive half
back). Always a threat. Morrison
was the leading rusher, receiver
and return specialist. He was a
co-captain of the Bucks.
Joe Poole (quarterback). Poole
came on strong at the end of the
season and ran the offense that
averaged 15.6 points and over 300
total yards per game. Poole is a
three year starter.
Frank Kicklighter (offensive
tackle). Another co-captain, this
three year starter snapped for the
punts and P.A.T.'s during 1976.
Wally Jordan (offensive center).
Dubbed the Iron Man of the
Bucks. Jordan was ready to play at
all times despite nagging injuries.
He was a co-captain.
Artis Stevens (defensive line
backer). Stevens led the team in
tackles, caused fumbles and was
the hardest hitter on the defensive
unit. He had over 15 tackles against
five opponents in 1976.
Coach John Harris had praise for
his ex-plavers. saying each one- was
very deserving of the honor.
Richmond County High led the
1976 list with eight players. San
ford Central had six. Lumberton
had four along with Scotland
County and Bowman and Pinecrest
each had one.
The Southeastern 4-A All
Conference Team is selected by the
head football coaches of the mem
ber schools.
