SHORT LIVED PLAN - The A&P market in Raeford posted new operating hours to conserve energy h'riduy hut took down the sign and went hack to regular hours Tuesday after another supermarket chuin in the Cape hear region bolted Jrom the voluntary plan requested hy state officials. So Jar. it is only food stores which are withdrawing support. t HEAT ?? One alternative to the problem of dwindling gas supplies is to install a coal burning stove like this one displayed in a Window on Main St. According to Carlton Niven this handy invention < jn be used for cooking dinner as well as warming your toes. \ Photo by S. H Aplin | CUT BACK (Continued from Page 1) announced a curtailment of hours, as well as the Pig 'N Chicken chain. The governor's order applies to all state agencies. The Employment Security Commission office on W. Elwood Ave. will re-schedule clients who normally report on Mondays to other days. The state ABC store on 401 -Bypass will remain open on Mondays but new hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. City government, meanwhile, had no immediate plans to curtail working hours because many employees are already on a four and a half day work week. The street and sanitation department, water department and municipal garage are all working a four and a half day week. City manager Robert Drumwright said temperatures in all city offices are being kept at no higher than 65 degrees during working hours. The garage is kept at 55 degrees at all times. Drumwright said there would be little energy saved by closing city hall one day a week as the water department office shares the same healing system with the police department and fire department. i DON'T WAIT TILL SPRING!
