PAGE ?? Martha Shaw Clark was selected by Speaker Carl J. Stewart. Jr. to serve as a page in the North Carolina House of Representatives. Her period of service was from Feb. 21 to Feb. 25. She was appointed by Rep. David R. Parnell of the 21st District. Miss Clark is a student at Hoke County High School. She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Clark. Men's League Play Resumes The Hoke County Parks and Recreation Commission will re sume Men's Basketball League action on March 3. Hunt's picked up four wins from the Guard. Raeford paint Center dumped the County Line Plaza three games to one. Kash and Karry moved up the ladder by tripping the Moosemen three games to one. j The high series last week went to Bill Hendrix for Earl's, a 57b that included a 237 game which Jiao w as the high 200 game. The Hoke Music Booster Club will kickotYits 1977-78 membership drive with a mini concert next Thursday night at the Hoke High gymtorium. Concert time is 8 p.m. Admis sion is $1. Both the Hoke High Band and Upchurch School Band, under the direction of Jimmy James, will perform, along with the Hoke High Chorus and Chorale and Upchurch Chorus. Linda Huff directs the Upchurch Chorus. Mary Archie McNeill directs the Hoke High Chorus and Chorale. Student membership is $3. Adult membership is $5. or $8 per couple. Special memberships, silver, gold and century, ($25. $50 and $100) Lady Bucks Win Bv Barry Gray Monday night last week, the Lady Bucks traveled to Bowman to win their first round in the 4-A divisional tournament. The Lady Bucks had some tense moments with two seconds to go and Bowman with the one and one situation. In the three minute overtime period. Terrv Tvler hit the winning points. The Lady Bucks defeated Bowman 48-44. Tyler had a fantastic night, leading the scoring with 23 points. The Lady Bucks lost the second round of the tournament action to Scotland County. Lena Scriven was high scorer in that game with 12 points. Coach Audrey Long termed this year's team as "the best ever at Hoke High". "Next year we will have three girls from Upchurch coming up to add to our talent and I'm looking forward to an excellent season." she said. "The girls are to be con gratulated on the outstanding effort and hard work they put in to make this a successful season. I'm extremely proud of all the players." she said. Monies are used to benefit all band, chorus and chorale mem bers. hf Barry Ellis Everybody is invited to the Miss EKOH Pageant tonight (Thursday) at the Hoke High Gymtorium. Twenty girls will be competing for Miss EKOH 1977. The contestants were introduced to the student body today and the eight finalists will be announced tonight and the new Miss EKOH will be crowned by Miss EKOH 1976. Miss Debbie Minshew. Pageant directors are Mrs. Elizabeth Burgess and Miss Audrey Long. Master of Ceremon ies will be Charles Hottel. Enter tainment will be provided by members of the band, chorus, and chorale. The Senior Hall of Fame will also be introduced tonight. This will be a very exciting and entertaining night and I hope everyone will come out to the pageant. The Hoke High Chorus and Chorale will perform in district competition on March 4. These groups will travel to Rockingham to compete against twenty-five other schools at the music festival. The Hoke High Chorale has been very busy the last few weeks with fund raising projects to send them to Washington and New York City on a singing tour. At this time the Chorale plans to sing at the Kennedy Center in Washington and at Rockefeller Center in New York. The Music Booster Club will be sponsoring a concert next Thursday at Hoke High, featuring all divi sions of the club. This will include the Chorale. Chorus, and Band from Hoke High and the Band and Choruses from Upchurch School. This is a member raising project and everyone is invited. Lady Bugs Lose 4 By Sandra Holcomb The Off Beats thrashed the lady Bugs four games to nothing last week in the Raeford Ladies League. The Bold Ones and the Bombers split their four games down the middle and the Friendly Four took three out of four games from the 76'ers. In the high series action were Debbie Hutson (487), Edith Nixon (461). Barbara Odom (450), Blanche Farmer (444), Carol Clark (412) and Shirley McCulloch (404). Topping the high games were Hutson (178), Farmer (178), Odom (177), Nixon (166), Kathy Faircloth (165) and Mary Hardy (159). This week, the Off Beats will face the Bold Ones, the Lady Bugs take on the 76'ers and the Friendly Four and the Bombers will battle it out for first place in the standings.
