Boys Close Out Season The Hoke High Boys Track Team will close out its season today (Thursday) with a meet at Richmond County High School. The Hoke Bucks will compete against Bowman, Scotland and Ftichmonc^liBl^chool^^^^^^ Curtis T.V. and USED FURNITURE 712S.W. Broad St. Southern Pines. N. C. (beside A&P) Several of the team's outstanding rrformers will be competing May in Pinecrest during the con ference championship. Vernon Morrison has turned in promising times of 9.8 in the 100 yd. dash and 22.1 in the 220 yd. dash this season. Other competitors and their top times include: Michael Ross, 52.7 in the 440 yd. dash; Mitchell Br&tcher, 9.9 in the 100 and 22.4 in the 220 yd. dash; Carnell Andrews. 2:06.4 in the 880, 4:38.6 in the mile run, and 9:52 in the two mile run. Charles Bease turned in a 6' score in the high jump and 20' in the long jump. The Hoke relay team has a season best of 1 :30.5 in the 880 yd. relay and 3:31.6 in the mile. ? ???, ... ? i i ?? Check Your Disaster Knowledge By T est A special television program entitled "The National Disaster Survival Test" will be shdwn over the NBC network Sunday, May 1 at 8 p.m. The 90 minute program is produced in cooperation with the National Safety Council. Vivid examples of what to do in emergency situations -? floods, fires, tornadoes and vehicle accidents - will be shown and viewers will be able to evaluate and grade themselves on their knowledge and reaction by using the special Test Sheet. A copy of the Test Sheet is reprinted in this newspaper for the convenience of viewers who will want to take the quiz. The program is being endorsed by the Division of Civil Preparedness of the N.C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety. The special program is enthusiastically endorsed by Bill Niven, coordinator of the Hoke County Civil Preparedness Agency, who sees it as a valuable educational tool. Both the chairman of the board of county commissioners, John Balfour, and Raeford Mayor John K. McNeill Jr., have urged all citizens to watch the program and participate in the Special Test to get a better understanding of the nature of disasters and how to survive with the appropriate safety measures.
