Dinner Parly Honors Couple Miss Judy Daniels and Leland Strother were honored with a dinner party at the Captain's Place on Thursday evening, May 5, given by Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Strother and Mr. and Mrs. Furman Clark. Twelve guests enjoyed a seafood dinner. The table was centered with a fern, which was presented to the honored couple along with gifts from the hosts. Miss Daniels and Mr. Strother will be married on June 12 at Antioch Presbyterian Church. Bridge Mrs Burnett Mrs. Paul Burnett entertained members of her Coffee Club and one visitor, Mrs. Earl Fowler, on Wednesday morning of last week. High scorer was Mrs. T.B. Lester Jr. Mrs Gdtlin Mrs. Robert Gatlin was hostess to members of her bridge club and visitors, Mrs. Earl Fowler, Mrs. Ed Brown, and Mrs. Chandler Rob erts, on Thursday evening of last week at the Gatlin Pond. A dessert course was served when guests arrived. Mrs. John Campbell was high scorer for the club and Mrs. Brown, visitor's high. Woman's Club Elects Officers The Open Meeting of the Rae ford Woman's Club was held at the Civic Center on May 3. at 8:00 p.m. with the President, Mrs. Alfred K. Leach, presiding. Chaplain, Mrs. Ben Ferguson, presented an inspir ational devotion entitled "Friends". The 1977-1978 Woman's Club budget was presented and ap proved. Department chairman gave yearly reports relating department activities and projects. The Presi dential report by Mrs. Leach stressed projects supported by all departments and commended all club members for efforts benefiting our community and its people. Reports of the State Convention held April 25-28 in Winston-Salem, N.C. were given by Mrs. Crawford Thomas and Mrs. John Balfour. Both expressed pride in receiving for the Raeford Club a special silver award. The Liberty Bell Award. This award, given for the best work by a club on a Bicentennial project, was given to the Raeford Woman's Club for its diligent work toward building the new Hoke County Library. As the first civic club in Hoke County to make a donation to the Hoke County Library, to Woman's Club began work on this project three years ago and con tinued through its completion. Senior Citizens Observe Mother's Doy The Senior Citizens Club of Cameron Heights presented a Mother's Day Program last Friday in which each member tried to say something in memory of their own mother. Club President, the Rev. J.W. McRae, gave a bouquet of roses to Mrs. Carol Wilkerson who was honored as mother of the group.
