In District Court 3 Bound Over On Theft Count Three men waived probable cause hearings on charges of auto theft Friday in District Court and were ordered bound over for action by the grand jury. Dennis Locklear, 25, of 1077 Center St., Fayetteville, Norman T. Harris, 16, of 2010 Mingo Cir., Fayetteville, and Daniel McLaugh lin, 18, of Rt. 2, Box 6-B, Red Springs, are charged with the Jan. 4 theft of a 1969 Ford owned by Lillie Brooks Clark, of Rt. 1, Red Springs. A bond reduction order was granted in the case of Greg Bryant, Rt. 2, Box 73, Maxton, who is Charged with receiving stolen goods. Bond was reduced from S5, 000 to SI. 000. Benny Jackson, Rt. 2, Box 46-C, Raeford, pleaded not guilty but was found gutlty of injury to personal property arising out of an incident in which a car windshield was fired upon. Jackson drew 12 months in prison and gave notice of appeal. Jackson was also ordered bound over to the grand jury for action on a charge of shooting into an occupied dwelling following a probable cause hearing. # Clarence Freeman, Sandhill Youth Center inmate, pleaded guilty to escape and drew a 90 day sentence to begin at the expiration of the defendant's current sen tence. De partment of Corrections inmate, pleaded guilty to carrying a con cealed weapon and was given a 90 day term retroactive to date of arrest. (Feb. 1). A second charge of possession of handgun by felon was quashed at the request of defense counsel and a third charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill (ADWITK) was dismissed by the prosecutor. Jack West, Harris Ave., Rae ford, was found not guilty of assault with a deadly weapon. Milton E. McCormick, Lot 43, Harmony Heights, Raeford, plead ed not guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) and was found guilty of the lesser ? included offense of reckless driving after drinking. A companion charge following too closely was dismissed by the prosecutor. McCormick drew a 60 day term suspended upon payment of SI 00 fine and costs. Breathalyzer reading was .17, according to records. John D. Bell, Lot 41, Harmony Heights, Raeford, pleaded not guilty to DUI and was found guilty of the lesser - included offense of reckless driving after drinking. Allen Ladd McKenzie, Rt. 1, Box 185-B, Red Springs, pleaded guilty to speeding 90 in a 55 m.p.h. zone, careless and reckless driving, failure to stop for blue light and siren and a fourth count of resisting an officer. All cases were con solidated for judgment and he received a six month term sus pended for two years and was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $150 and costs. Henry Lewis Graham, Rt. 1, Box 290, Shannon, pleaded guilty to driving left of center and was fined court costs. Burgess ACREAGE REPORTS REQUIRED FOR ALL FARMS The Agriculture Committees of the Senate and House have report # ed out farm bills which provide that if a set-aside is implemented for the 1978 crops, the acreage required to be set-aside may be based on a percentage of the acreage planted ? for harvest in 1977. In order to provide the Secretary of Agricul ture a full range of options in the event a 1978 set-aside is deemed necessary, 1977 acreages of wheat, corn, grain sorghum and barley will be obtained. Farms which fail to file this acreage report will be considered to have zero planted acreage and may be ineligible for program benefits in 1978. Farm operators or their de signees should report all acreages planted to a program crop as soon as planting is completed. REPORT DISASTER CONDITIONS Farmers participating in the Upland Cotton, Feed Grain, and Wheat programs who plan to Abandon crops planted on allot ment acreage and damged by natural disaster should have the crops appraised before putting the land to other use. The disaster damage should be reported to the County ASCS Ofrice. After any necessary ap praisal has been made the acreage will be released by ASCS for other | ?? uses. FLUE-CURED TOBACCO ? June 14 is the final date for tobacco growers to report their planted acreage. Farmers who plant in excess of 110 percent of the effective allotment will not be eligible for price support. It is very important that tobacco acreage be reported accurately and as soon as possible after planting is completed. If measurement service is desired the cost will be $4.00 per farm plus $1.50 per acre with a minimum of $11.50 per farm. Anyone with questions regarding changes in the tobacco program is encouraged to contact the ASCS office. Family Dollar Sets Dividend The board of directors of Family Dollar Stores. Inc. Fields, Roanoke Ra pids, pleaded guilty to DU1 and received a 90 day term suspended for 12 months upon payment of $100 fine and costs. A limited driving permit was issued. Breath alyzer reading was .13, according to records. Companion charges of speeding 67 in a 55 m.p.h. zone and transporting bottle of liquor with seal broken were dismissed by the prosecutor. A charge of worthless check against Eugene Carpenter, Rae ford, in the amount of $50 to Larry's Drive-in was dismissed by the state. A charge of having no operator's license against Georgia McDoug ald, Rt. 3, Box 12, Raeford, was dismissed by the state. Frank D. Perry, 511 E. Fifth Ave., Raeford, pleaded guilty to DUI (second offense) and speeding 55 in a 45 m.p.h. zone and received a six month term suspended for three and one half years. He was placed on probation for three and one half years, ordered not to drive until properly licensed, fined $250 and costs and ordered to undergo alcoholic's rehabilitation. Breath alyzer reading was .18, according to records. William D. Chavis, Rt. 1, Red SpringSjpleaded guilty to DUI and drew a 90 day term suspended for one year. He was fined $150 and costs. Breathalyzer reading was .19. according to records. Alton Watkins, P.O. Box 67, Raeford, pleaded guilty to speeding 85 in a 55 m.p.h. zone and was given a 60 day term suspended upon payment of $50 fine and costs. Linwood Lee. Rt. 1, Lot 6, Raeford, pleaded guilty to an inspection violation and drew a 30 day term suspended upon payment of court costs. * Lenice B. Pettitt, Winston-Sa lem, pleaded guilty to having no operator's license after the state dismissed a charge of driving while license revoked. She was fined $25 and costs. Jacky LeRoy Cooper, Staley, pleaded guilty to exceeding a safe speed and was ordered to pay costs. Dorothy T. Spence, Matthews, pleaded guilty to exceeding a safe speed after the state reduced a charge of speeding 68 in a 55 m.p.h. zone and was fined $10 and costs. Lewis J. Hash, Carthage, plead ed guilty to exceeding a safe speed after the state reduced a charge of speeding 65 in a 55 m.p.h. zone and was fined court costs. Randall Allen, no address listed, pleaded guilty to speeding 65 in a 55 m.p.h. zone and was fined $5 and costs.
