82nd Airborne Division
Annual Review Friday
One of the most spectacular
events to take place at Ft. Bragg
each year will happen Friday
morning at Pike Field when Amer
ica's number one reaction force
goes on parade.
Dressed in combat garb and
camouilage fatigues, paratroopers
of the 82nd Airborne Division,
America's Guard of Honor, will
hold their annual review.
The striking spectacle will in
clude 22 battalions and three
separate companies representing
the entire 16.000 man division.
Additionally, there will be equip
i ment displays, parachute demon
strations, armor and several types
of aircraft and artillery weapons.
One of the highlights of the
review will be recognition of the
"Trooper of the Year" for 1977.

Health Plan
Predicts
Bed Excess
A draft plan developed by the
Cardinal Health Agency states that
there will be an excess of 142
hospital beds in southeastern North
Carolina by 1982.
The Cardinal Health Agency, a
health planning and resource
development agency for 15 coun
ties. has projected in its draft
Health Systems Plan that 3,042
acute - care hospital beds are
needed to serve the area population
through 1982, while planned hos
pital expansion and construction
will create a total of 3,184 beds by
that date.
Though the plan shows that
some counties may have a need for
additional beds, the impact of
currently approved hospital ex
pansion and construction will
create the excess beds for the
overall fifteen county area. Cardi
nal's draft Health Systems Plan
discusses the need for hospital beds
in detail.
Copies of the draft Health
Systems Plan have been made
available for review in Council of
Governments offices in Troy, Fay
etteville, Lumberton and Wilming
ton and in the main public library
of all counties. Cardinal is also
sponsoring public meetings to
receive comments and suggestions
regarding the draft Health Systems
Plan. Meetings have been sche
duled for June 8, 1977 at Bowman's
Restaurant; June 9, 1977 at the
Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge in
Dunn; June 13, 1977 at the Holiday
Restaurant in Whiteville; and Tune
22, 1977 at the Southern National
Bank Building in Lumberton. All
meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m.
and are open to the public.
For additional information about
the meetings or health planning
activities, contact the Cardinal
Health Agency, 202 West 27th
Street, Lumberton, N.C. 28358, or
telephone (919) 738-9316.
