At Shower
Miss Cindy Bridges, July bride ?
elect of Tommy Curne, was
honored at a floating shower on
Saturday evening at the home of
Mrs. Kenneth Currie on Route 3.
Co-hostess was Mrs. H.B. Nixon.
The table was covered with a
hand-made lace cloth that Mrs.
Nixon had brought from Greece,
and centered with an arrangement
of yellow mums and white daisies.
Refreshments of cake, nuts,
mints and punch were served.
July Fourth Fish Fry
On July 4, Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Norton entertained with a fish fry
at their home in Blue Springs.
Thirty-three friends attended.
The contemporary Christian
rock group, "Simple Joy," provid
ed the entertainment.
Luncheon Honors
Miss Susan Bounds, bride-elect
of Randy Huggins, was honored
Friday, July 1, with a luncheon at
the home of Mrs. John Walker.

Mrs. Carlton Niven is visiting with
her mother, Mrs. Frank Hedrick,

Graham. Miss Graham and Mrs.
Newton have returned to Charlotte
with Dr. Newton for a visit.

and Lisa left Friday for Bluefield to
visit with Mr. Poe s mother who is
in the hospital.

TSgt. Odell Ashburn, Jr., son of
Mr. and Mrs. Odell Ashburn of
Raeford, and Sharon Rose Davis,
daughter of George Salaky of San
Jose, California, were married in
the Base Chapel, Hickam AFB,
Hawaii, July 2. TSgt. Ashburn is
stationed at Hickam with the
USAF. After a week on Waikiki
Beach, the couple will be at home
at Hickam.

Held Sunday
The McCall Family Reunion was
held Sunday, July 3, at the home of
Mrs. Estelle McNeill. Guests at
tending from out of town were from
Newark, New Jersey; Baltimore,
Maryland; Berlin, Maryland;
South Carolina; Pembroke; Dur
ham; Red Springs; Fort Bragg;
Greensboro; and Fayetteville.

Celebrate
Silver Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. David Farmer
were hosts for a reception in honor
of Mrs. Farmer's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. James E. Easterling, on their
twenty-fifth anniversary Sunday
afternoon.
A green parachute was used as a
canopy over the Easterling's back
yard. The tables were covered with
white linen cloths and centered
with arrangements of pink snap
dragons and pink and white carna
tions.
Refreshments of punch, cake,
nuts, cheese biscuits, chicken salad
sandwiches, cream cheese and
cherry sandwiches, mints and fruits
in watermelon baskets. Mrs. Odell
Ashburn and Mrs. Ray Hammond
served punch and the cake was
served by Mrs. Julian Wright.
Others assisting in serving were
Mrs. Adrain Allred, Mrs. Neil
McLean, Mrs. Sandy Barr and
Miss Brenda Currie.
The guest register was kept by
Mrs. Robert Easterling. Guests
were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Farmer and Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Currie. Goodbyes were said by Mr.
and Mrs. Julian Love.
Approximately 75 friends and
relatives attended. Following the
reception several guests remained
and enjoyed swimming in the pool.
