Area Incidents Cruiser Damaged In Chase Another sheriffs department cruiser was damaged during a high speed, early morning chase through Hoke and Cumberland counties. Being held under 53,000 bond on multiple charges is Thomas J. Ross Jr.. 27. of Rt. 4. Box 278. Fayetteville. According to Deputy C'.E. Harris, a 1973 Pontiac traveling on U.S. 401 about 3 a.m. on Oct. 24 failed to stop and headed into Cumberland County with Harris in pursuit. The two vehicles collided near the vicinity of Stoney Point Rd. and the driver of the Pontiac tied. Ross was charged later the same day. Damage to the patrol car was estimated at S375. Harris appeared unhurt. In other incidents. Ronnie Jones. 18. of Rt. 1. Box 259, Maxton, was arrested and charged with larceny Oct. 21. Box 153, Raeford. reported a Homelite XL 12 and bow kit valued at $352 were taken from his yard sometime Oct. 22. Willie Kelly. P.O. Box 534. Raeford. reported that a .38 caliber revolver was stolen from his automobile Oct. 15. The loss was reported Oct. 22. In the city, the A&P reported a fifteen ? year - old male shoplifter stole a 40 cent card Oct. 14. According to police, a juvenile petition has been drawn. Ricky Huff of Aberdeen reported to police that his car, left at the old airport on E. 7th Ave. at 12:15 a.m. Oct. 14. received damage to a tender and the battery was missing. He discovered the loss when he returned to the car at 3:15 a.m. Police received a call from Shirley Pate. 711 N. Jackson, reporting a bicycle stolen from her carport on Oct. 13. The bicycle was valued at S50. On the same day. police got a call from William Wrench reporting his bicycle, valued at S40. had been stolen from the same address. According to police. Deputy Sheriff James Peterkin, 516 E. 5th Ave., reported intruders entered his home through his unlocked front door on Oct. 21. They took three watches, a .38 Smith and Wesson pistol, a tape player, a .357 magnum and holster, two rings, a Polaroid camera, a basketball, and a Royal typewriter. Peterkin esti mated his losses at SI. 3 17. 00. Sandra McDonald. 16. Rt. 4. Box 38. Raeford. and Willie Mae Blue. 25. Rt. 4. Box 13. Raeford. were charged with larceny Oct. 10 in connection with items taken from three area stores. Family Dollar Store reported to police the , ?> vallipri at S4 .75 later recovered. A court date of Nov. 18 has been set for the pair. Bobby Lee Edwards. 39. Green St.. Raeford. was charged Oct. 25 with receiving stolen property, according to police. He was charged in connection with four sets of keys taken from Quality Motors. 706 Harris Ave., and one set reported missing from Raeford Auto. He was jailed in lieu of $400 bond. His court date has been set for Oct. 28. School Bus Accident Inj ures 9 The second school bus accident of the year occurred Thursday. Oct. 20. about 3 p.m. The bus. driven by Estella Thomas. Rt. I. Box 331, Shannon, was hit headon. according to J.E. Stanley of the Highway Patrol. Frankie Jones. Laurinburg. driver of the truck, was charged with exceeding a safe speed by the patrol. Damage was estimated to be $1,000 to each vehicle. Nine chil dren received minor injuries. The accident happened close to Duttie Road about two miles from Red Springs in Hoke County.
