In District Court Man Appears On Speeding And Assault Charges In District Court this week, Jeffrey Owen Pureed. Rt. I. Box 126, appeared on charges ot assault 011 a law enforcement officer and speeding 81 in a 55 m.pJi. zone. Judge Joseph Duprce sentenced the defendant to 18 months, suspended for three years and a half years. He was ordered to pay a fine of S250 and cost and be on probation for three years. Tony Herring, 515 E. Central. Raeford, pleaded guilty to driving with liccnse revoked. He was sentenced to six months suspended for two years upon payment of S200 fine and cost. He was not to operate a motor vehicle until properly licensed. James John Johnson, Rt. 1 Box 148 Wagram. pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI). Breathalyzer reading was .17%. He was sentenced to 90 days suspended for 1 2 months provided he pay a fine of SI 50 and cost and not operate a motor vehicle except as set out in his limited driving prililege order. Arthur Lee Thomas, P.O. Box 910, Raeford, pleaded guilty to a charge of D.U.I. He pleaded not guilty to a second charge of D.U.I. Breathlyzer reading in the first charge was 25%; in the second charge, a reading of .20% was taken. He was found guilty of both charges and sentenced to six months suspended for two years provided he pay a fine of S250 and cost, surrender his liccnse and not operate a motor vehicle until properly licensed. He was also ordered to follow the direction of police officers in regard to alcoholic rehabilitation. Ebender Locklear Usher, Box 512, Raeford, pleaded not guilty to D.U.I., second offense. Breathlyzer reading was .14%. She was found guilty of the lesser offense of careless and reckless driving. Sentence was for six months suspended for two years upon payment of S200 fine and cost and provided she violate no penal law for two years. George Oral Blakely. Fayettevtlle, pleaded guilty to D.U.I. Breathlyzer reading was .23%. He was sentenced to 90 days suspended for 1 2 months upon payment of SI 50 fine and cost. He was ordered to surrender his operator's license and not operate a motor vehicle except as set out in his limited driving privilege order. Harvey Singletary, Rt. 2, Box 294. Raeford. pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked and not guilty to D.U.I. , second offense. He refused the breathalyzer test. He was found guilty of driving while license revoked and was sentenced to six months suspended for two years upon payment of a fine ot S200 and cost. He was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle until properly licensed. A verdict of not guilty on the charge of D.U.I.. second offense, was given. Norman Hunter Richardson, Ellerbe. pleaded guilty to D.U.I. Breathalyzer was refused. He was sentenced to 90 days suspended for 12 months except as set out in the limited driving privilege order. He was ordered to pay a SI 50 fine and cost. Norman McFadyen. Rt. 1 Box 104, Raeford. pleaded guilty to two counts of D.U.I, second otfense. On the first count, he was sentenced to six months, suspended lor five years with three and a half years probation. He was ordered to surrender his license and not operate a motor vehicle until properly licensed. He was also ordered to pay a S200 fine and cost. On the second count, he was sentenced to six months and placed on probation tor three and a half years and was ordered to pay S200 fine and cost. The second sentence was ordered to begin at expiration of the first. Breathalyzer reading was .269? in the first charge and .37% in the second. Bernadette A. Thomas, 511 East Prospect, Raeford. pleaded guilty to worthless check. She was ordered to pay restitution of S85.I6 to Charles McMillan and cost. Douglas McCougan. Parkland, pleaded guilty to a charge of worthless check. He was ordered to pay S58.50 restitution to DeVane's and cost. Gary Baldwin. 514 6th St.. Fayetteville. 64 in a 55 m.p.h. zone; Kenneth Carpenter. 518 E. 5th St.. Raeford. receiving, and larceny; Willie Lee McLean, Rt. 4 Box 31. Raeford, failure to stop for a school bus; Robert Alan Souviney. Fayetteville. no operator's license. The following cases were heard in Friday's District Court: Lonnie Junior Smith, 115 West Donaldson, Raeford. pleaded guilty to four counts of breaking and entering and larceny. He was sentenced to two years on the first two counts and two years on the second two counts, second sentence to begin at the expiration of the first. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny and received a sentence of 12 months. He was ordered to report to the sheriff at noon Jan. 3 for incarceration. Hugh Larry Gibson. E. 6th St., Raeford. pleaded guilty to four counts of misdemeanor larceny and four counts of breaking and enter ing. He was sentenced to two years on three of the counts of misde meanor larceny and assigned to work under the supervision of the N.C. Dept. of Correction. He was sentenced to two years and assigned to work under the supervision of the N.C. Dept. of Correction on two counts of breaking and enter ing and one count of larceny. On two charges of breaking and enter ing, a sentence of 12 months was imposed. Each sentence is to begin at the expiration of the prior sentence. Sandra McDonald. Rt. 4 Box 38. Raeford. pleaded guilty to two counts of larceny. She was sen tenced to two years, suspended for five, and placed on probation for three and a half years. She was ordered not to be convicted of the crime of shoplifting, larceny, fruad. receiving stolen property, embezzlement or worthless checks for five years. She was also ordered not to be found in the company of Willie Mae Blue for five years and to pay a fine of S100 and costs. Willie Mae Blue, Rt. 4 Box 13, Raeford. pleaded guilty to three counts of larceny. She was sen tenced to two years, suspended for five, and placed on probation for three and a half years on two counts. She was ordered not to be convicted of shoplifting, larceny, receiving, fraud, embezzlement or worthless checks for five years. She was also ordered not to be found in the company of Sandra McDonald and to pay a $50 fine and costs. On the third count, she was sentenced to 12 months and given a five year suspended sentence. She was placed on probation for three and a half years. The second sentence is to begin at the expiration of the first and the same conditions were imposed as in the first sentence. She was ordered to pay SI 00 fine and costs. Ronnie Jones. Maxton. pleaded guilty to misdemeanor larceny. He was sentenced to seven months suspended for five years. He was ordered to pay a $25 fine and costs and not be convicted of shoplifting, larceny, fraud, embezzlement or worthless checks for five years. He was also ordered not to go upon the premises of the prosecuting witness (Kash Mart, owned by Croner Reasner) for five years. Dwight Green. Rt. 4, Raeford. pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon. He was found not guilty and the prosecuting witness. Walter Douglas, Rt. 2 Box 478, Raeford. was ordered to pay cost for frivolous and malicious prose cution. James L. Monroe, Rt. 1 Box 469, Raeford, pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon. He was found not guilty and the prosecuting witness, Prunell Mon roe, Rt. 1. Raeford, was ordered to pay cost of frivolous and malicious prosecution. ' Walter Douglas. Rt. 2 Bo* 478. Raeford. pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault. He was found not guilty and the prosecuting witness. Dwight Green. Rt. 2 Box 8, Raeford, was ordered to pay cost for frivolous and malicious prose cution. Dexter Thomas. Rt. 1 Box 541, Raeford, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault. Prayer for judgement was continued for three years, with the court reserving the right to pass final judgment within three years. He was ordered to pay costs. Pricilla Torrence, Rt. I, Rae ford. pleaded not guilty to assault. She was found not guilty. Terry Wayne Caulder, Red Springs, pleaded guilty to assault on an officer, public drunkenness and driving while license revoked. On the first charge, he was sentenced to six months to work under the Supervision of the N.C. Department of Correction. He received the same sentence on the second charge. It will begin at the expiration of the first sentence. The defendant gave notice of appeal. David Wallace. Rt. 3, Raeford. was found not guilty of assault. Tony Jones, Box 58. McCain, pleaded guilty to escape. He was sentenced to six months to begin at the expiration of his current term. Harry McKinnon Tyner, Rt. 3 Lot 32, Raeford, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (D.U.I.). He was sentenced to 60 days, suspended upon payment of a SI 00 fine and costs. His breath alyzer reading was .15 percent. Jerry Ray Harrell, Rt. 4 Box lSb. Raeford, was sentenced to 90 days, suspended for 12 months on charges of D.U.I, and speeding 47 in a 35 m.p.h. zone. He was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle except as set out in the order granting limited driving privilege and to pay a S150 fine and cost. Fred Douglas Campbell, Rt. 1 Box 1 17, Raeford, pleaded guilty to D.U.I, second offense. He was sentenced to* four months. The defendant gave notice of appeal. Thomas Allen Haynes, Rt. 1 Box 121, pleaded guilty to D.U.I. He was sentenced to 12 months sus pended for 12 months and ordered not to drive except as set forth in the order granting limited driving rivileges. He was ordered to pay 150 fine and costs. Dale Hair. Fayetteville. pleaded guilty to a charge of trespass. Prayer for judgement was con tinued for three years with the court reserving right to pass final judge ment within three years. The defendant was ordered to pay cost. Fat Love, Bowmore section, Raeford, pleaded not guilty to damage of personal property. He was found guilty and sentenced to 18 months suspended for three and a half years. He was placed on probation for three and a half years and ordered to pay restitution to King David McMillian in the amount of $449.15 and costs. James N. The class began Sept. 13 and met once a week for the 10 week period. The top four obedience honors went to the dogs with the highest number of accumulated points judged during the graduation exer cises. First place went to Joyce Tufts of Pinehurst with an "All American" breed. Doug Stalls of Pinehurst received second place with a Collie. Third place honor was awarded to Dr. Beth Lylerly of Fayetteville with a Border Collie. Elizabeth Bean of Fort Bragg gathered fourth place with a Weimaraner. Other participants from the Rae ford area were Kathy and Eddie Owens with two Doberman Pins chers, Mrs. Dewey McQuage with another Doberman, Don Cameron with a Wire-Haired Terrier, and the youngest participant, Kimberly McNeill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken McNeill, with a Schnauzer.
