CELEBRATES 99TH BIRTH DA Y - Miss Minnie J. Martin celebrated her 99th birthday Dec. 2 at McCain Hospital, where she has been a patient since July. Along with cards and flowers, she received a note from Governor Jim Hunt wishing her all the best on her special day. Miss Martin said she received another letter from the executive mansion in 1971. Jessie Ray Scott and her husband, the Governor, had admired a quilt Miss Martin made that was on display at the state fair. Miss Martin said she was born and raised on a farm in eastern Biscoe. The Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies' Auxiliary's annual Christmas dinner was held at The Town Hall Saturday Night. A turkey and ham dinner was served to sixty-five guests. The Ladies' Auxiliary met Tues day night with sixteen members present. 20th Wedding Anniversary M/Sgt. and Mrs. William H. Schell.lll of Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. were honored by their daughters on Sunday, November 27. It was the couple's 20th wedding anniversary. TTie surprise party was held in the home of Sgt.
