SECTION II C77eu??j - journal THURSDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1977 In District Court Sentence A Raeford man was found guilty of violating probation laws in Friday's District Court session. Elmore Campbell, Rt. 3 Box 336, Raeford, entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of having in his possession property designed for and used in the unlawful manu facturing of intoxicating liquors. Judge Joseph Dupree found him guilty and a term of 12 months was imposed. Sentence was suspended for three years provided the defen dant pay a $200 fine and cost and that he violate no alcoholic beverage control laws for three years. Mack R. Naylor, McCain Cor rection Center, McCain, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor escape. He was sentenced to 90 days to begin at the expiration of any and all sentences he is currently serving. Willie Lee Sellers, College Park, Maryland, pleaded not guilty to driving left of center and un - intentionally causing the death of Jerry Gordon McRae. He was found guilty and was sentenced to 12 months, suspended for two years upon payment of a S200 fine and cost. The defendant was ordered tg violate no penal laws for two years. The defendant gave notice of appeal. Mary Hammonds, Rt. 4 Lot 106, Raeford, pleaded not guilty to simple affray. She was found guilty and prayer for judgment was continued for three years with the court reserving the right to pass final judgment within three years. She was ordered to pay costs. Betty Ann Morrisey, Rt. 3 Box 4, Raeford, pleaded guilty to simple affray. After hearing the evidence in this case, the court ordered the defendant's plea of guilty stricken from the record and directed a verdict of not guilty. Henry Rayford Newby, Aber deen, pleaded not guilty to assault. He was ordered not to carry a deadly weapon concealed or otherwise for five years. Sharon McNeill. Box 631. Rae ford, pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. The prosecuting witness was ordered to pay cost for frivolous and malicious prosecution. Rudolph Singletary, 409 Wooley St., Raeford, pleaded not guilty to assault on a female. Frederick Joseph Liles, Rt. 1 Box [ 538, Raeford, pleaded guilty to no | operator's license. He was sen tenced to 30 days suspended upon payment of a $25 fine and cost. Michael Allen Strawn, Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to driving left of center. He was sentenced to 30 days suspended upon payment of a $10 fine and cost. Patrick Fellows. 501 Grant Ave., Raeford, pleaded guilty to public intoxication.- He was sentenced to 10 days suspended upon payment of cost. James Tillman Long, Raeford. pleaded guilty to public intoxi cation. He was sentenced to 12 months. The defendant gave notice of appeal. The following cases were heard in Thursday's session: Ronnie Blue, Rt. 1, Raeford. pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon. He was found not guilty and the prosecuting witness was ordered to pay cost for frivolous and malicious prosecu tion. Rodney Carpenter, 507 East Fifth Avenue, Raeford. pleaded guilty to a charge of worthless check. He was sentenced to 30 days, suspended upon payment of $41.58 restitution for B.C. Moore & Sons and cost. Sidney Junior Waldrup. Fay etteville. pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (D.U.I.) 3rd offense. He refused the Breatha lyzer. He was sentenced to two years, suspended for five, and placed on probation for 3Vi years. He was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle until properly li censed; to follow the guidance of the probation officer in regards to alcoholic rehabilitation; and to pay $700 fine and cost. Johnnie Morrison, Box 242, Wagram. pleaded guilty to D.U.I. He had a Breathalyzer reading of .20%. A charge of illegal passing was dismissed. He was sentenced to 90 days, suspended for 12 months. A fine of $150 was imposed, and he w as ordered not to operate a motor vehicle, except as set out in his order granting limited driving privileges. He was also ordered to pay cost. George Roscoe Nelson, Laurin burg, pleaded guilty to D.U.I, second offense. He was sentenced to six months, suspended for 12 upon payment of a $250 fine and cost. Breathalyzer reading was .26%. Leverne Ray, Rt. 3 Box 2280, Raeford, pleaded guilty to D.U.I, second offense, and driving with license revoked. He was sentenced to two years, suspended for four years provided he surrender his limited driving privilege, not be convicted of the crime of D.U.I, for four years, and pay $400 fine and cost. Roy Paul Millea. Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to D.U.I, and transporting open alcoholic bev erage. A speeding charge was dismissed. He was sentenced to six months, suspended upon payment of $175 fine and cost, and was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle, except as set out in his limited driving privilege order. Breathalyzer reading was .13%. Phillip Carl Henline. Robbins. pleaded guilty to D.U.I. Breath lyzer reading was .13%. He was sentenced to 90 days, suspended for 12 months. He was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle, except as set out in the order granting limited driving privilege . A fine of S 1 50 was imposed and he was also ordered to pay cost. Willie James Cunningham, Fay etteville. pleaded guilty to D.U.I. Breathalyzer reading was .29%. He was sentenced to 90 days, sus pended for 12 months provided he not operate a motor vehicle except as set out in his limited driving privilege order and that he pay a fine of SI 50 and cost. Roman Bowman. Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to D.U.I. He was found not guilty of a speeding charge. Breathalyzer reading was .12%. He was sentenced to 90 days, suspended for 12 months provided he not operate a motor vehicle, except as set out in the order granting limited driving privilege, and that he pay a $150 fine and costs. Bessie Willis Blackburn, 515 East 5th St., Raeford, pleaded guilty to failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident. She was ordered to pay cost. Burnice Blanks, Rt. 1 Box 64 Vi, Red Springs, pleaded guilty to allowing his motor vehicle to be driven by an un-licensed operator. Prayer for judgment was continued upon payment of cost. Harry Leonard Bell, Locust, pleaded guilty to illegal passing. He was sentenced to 30 days, sus pended upon payment of $10 and cost. Ronnie McPhatter, Box 82 Oak Drive. McCain, pleaded guilty to improper passing and failure to appear. He was sentenced to 60 days suspended upon payment of a $25 fine and cost. Patricia Bullock. Rt. 1 Box 581. Raeford. pleaded guilty to illegal passing. Prayer for judgment was continued upon payment of cost. Bennie Earl Holland. Rt. 1 Box 313l/i, Shannon, pleaded guilty to reckless driving. He was sentenced to 30 days, suspended upon payment of a S25 fine and cost. A charge of speeding was dismissed. Bearkley McDuffie, Laurinburg. pleaded not guilty to unsafe move ment. He was found guilty and sentenced to 30 days, suspended upon payment of a S10 fine and cost. James Tyrone Ross. Rt. 1 Box 162, Raeford, pleaded not guilty to failure to stop at the scene of an accident when the car he was driving was involved. He was found guilty and sentenced to 90 days, suspended upon payment of $100 fine and cost. The defendant gave notice of appeal. Thomas Louis Epps, Rt. 1 Box 85. Maxton, pleaded guilty to speeding 73 in a 55 m.p.h. zone. He was sentenced to thirty days, suspended upon payment of a $15 fine and cost. John Cardell Reed, Fayetteville, pleaded guilty to speeding 70 in a 55 m.p.h. zone. He was sentenced to 30 days, suspended upon pay* (See DISTRICT COURT. Pg 3. Sec.
