Mr. and Mrs. D.K. Parker Mr. 8c Mrs. Parker Honored On Fiftieth Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. D.K. Parker of Route 4, Raeford were honored with a reception in recognition of fifty years of marriage on Sunday, December 18, from 3 - 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Galatia Presbyterian Church. Hosts for the occasion were their children and grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Parker received guests with their children, Mr. and Mrs. T.R. McPherson, Sr., of Yanceyville, Mr. and Mrs. Davis K. Parker, Jr.. and Maj. and Mrs. D.B. Parker, both of Fayetteville. \ Mrs. Parker was presented a corsage of yellow rose buds to compliment her mint green gown, while Mr. Parker received a yellow rose bud boutonniere. Their grandsons, Tom McPher son of Raleigh, Davis McPherson of Yanceyville, and Duncan and Kirkland Parker of Fayetteville greeted guests and presided at the guest register. A gold and white color scheme was carried throughout the Fel lowship Hall. The table was cen tered with gold candles in tall hurricane globes and surrounded by white pine and gold ribbons on a white cutwork linen tablecloth. Greenery, candles, and poinsettias decorated the piano and book shelves to complement the table arrangement. Enlarged snapshots of the Parker wedding and their early years of marriage were also displayed. The wedding cake, punch, and hors d'oeuvres were served by their granddaughters Misses Teresa, Joni, and Karen Parker of Fayetteville and Elizabeth McPher son of Yanceyville. Mrs. Tom McPherson of Raleigh presented a program of piano music during the reception. Special guests included Mr. and Mrs. Parker's sisters, Misses Allie and Katie Black of Fayetteville, Mrs. J.E. Lovette of Raeford, and Mrs. J.E. Shewbridge of Margate, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Parker were married December 28, 1927, at the home of the late Reverend A.D. Carswell in Raeford. Personals Mrs. T.B. Lester and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scarborough and son, Tom, spent Christmas day in Candor with Mr. and Mrs. D.T. Scar borough. Holiday guests of Mr. and Mrs. John W. McPhaul were Mr. and Mrs. Bill McPhaul and children of Halifax, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Sample and children of Galax, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Seaton and daughters of Phillippi, W. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williamson spent the holidays in Eden with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hough Golden Anniversary ! On Christmas Eve Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Hough of the Rockfish community celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary December 24. Hosting the occasion were their children. Miss Dasiree Hough, Mrs. Allene Goodman, Mrs. Inez Goff and Clyde Hough. Upon arrival guests were greeted by the honored couple and invited into the living room of the Hough home which was decorated with Poinsettias. Guests were then invited into the dining area which was decorated in white and gold. The table was covered with a gold cloth edged with white lace. A three Mrs. Lyda Soles Entertains Office Staff Mrs. Lyda W. Soles was hostess to the staff, of Dr. R.M. Jordan's office and guests on Saturday evening, Dec. l7th, with a buffet supper. The living room and den was decorated with red and white Poinsettias and red candles. The dining room table was covered with a linen tablecloth and decorated with red candles and greenery. After the couple sliced the traditional piece of cake their guests were invited to a formal dinner of ham, turkey and dressing and all the trimmings. Mrs. Hough chose an aqua formal gown with a sheer aqua cape. She wore a corsage of yellow carnations. Mr. Hough was pre sented a yellow boutonniere. Mr. and Mrs. Hough were married in 1927 in Raeford and have been long time residents of Hoke County. Approximately 75 guests called during the evening from Fayette ville and the Rockfish community. Special guests were the Hough's nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
