i HISTORY PROJECTS - Jean Daniel's students at Upchurch Junior High School have been participating in Project I- lair, which is a program for gifted and talented students. They studied the novel "Johnny Tremain" and nutde historical projects, did genealogy reports, and were "Apprentices" to about 61) resource people in Hoke County. Maryland spent several weeks with her sister. Mrs. Hunter Forbes. They visited another sister, Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Robertson and family in Asheville, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Shelton and family and Mrs. Mary John Campbell in Mt. Airy. The Sheltons and Mrs. Campbell are former residents of Lumber Bridge. Dr. A.B. Williford of Hillsville, Virginia spent several days last week with his sister, Miss Mildred Williford. Mr. and Mrs. Jon Evans. Allison and Susan of Raleigh spent the weekend with Mrs. John Covington and Mrs. Jim Maxwell and family. Mr. Jim Maxwell is a patient in Moore Memorial Hospital and underwent surgery last week. Mr. and Mrs. H.P. Honeycutt of Warsaw and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Creech of Rocky Mount spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn H. Clark. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Sumner of Fayetteville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Sumner. Mrs. Hunter Forbes spent Wednesday in Laurinburg with Mr. and Mrs. James McLaurin. John C. Williford of Wilmington visited his sister, Miss Mildred Williford Friday and Saturday. Joe Hough has improved but is still a patient in Southeastern Memorial Hospital, Lumberton. Mrs. Tim Nance of Siler City is spending several days with her mother, Mrs. J.C. Chason. By Lib Stunner Dan McGougan is seriously ill and is in Moore Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Caddell of Raleigh spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. George L. Caddell. Mrs. Flora G. Boykin of Alexandria, Va. and Mrs. Iola G. Miller of Van Nuys, California who spent Christmas in Williamsburg. Va., were able to go to Alexandna Monday. They had planned a visit with the Sumner's but Mrs. Boykin was ill with pneumonia and spent two weeks in Williamsburg. Mrs. J.Edwin Clifton who has been very sick with flu is much better. .
