Senior Citizen's Trip The Hoke County Parks and Recreation Commiskra is . sponsoring a trip to Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville for the first 35 senior citizens who mister. The bus will depart from the back of the Raeford United Methodist Church promptly at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday. May 24, and will return to the same location by 3 p.m. In order to register, you must call the Recreation office (875-5603) to get your name on the list. There will be a 50 cent gas expense with all other expenses depending on the individual. Youth Softball All those interested in playing Youth Softball (rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors). Men's Softball Underway Here The Men's Softball League got underway last Tuesday with three games. In the opening game, the All-Stars crushed the Gray Ghosts 14-2. The All-Stars got all the runs they needed as they picked up six runs in the first inning. Artis Gay went 3-3. with a homerun. to lead the All-Stars Sammy Young was 2-2 for the losers. Chandler In the second game, Odom's Roofing pushed across three runs in the top of the fifth inning to post 4-3 win over the House of Raeford. A walk and three basehits gave Odom's the inning it needed. Richard Garner was 1-2 at bat for O.R. while Charles Crowder was 3-3 for the H.R. In the second game. Pig-n-Chic ken used only five innings to dispose of the 7b-ers 14-4. Thre? straight homeruns in the third inning and a seven-run fourth highlighted P-C's 15-hit attack. Jackson In the third game of the evening, the Gray Ghost turned a five-run sixth inning into a 12-6 win over Odom's Roofing. Tex-Elas tic scored in all six innings to hand Sandhills a 10-0 loss. Dennis Adams and Joe McCollum paved the way for T.E. with two hits apiece. Adams The Hoke County Parks and Recreation Comission is sponsoring a Summer Co-Ed Volleyball league. An organizational meeting will be held at the recreation office on Thursday. June 8. 8 p.m. All interested participants should now begin to plan their teams. One representative from each perspec tive team should attend the organi zational meeting All adult players must be 18 years of age or have graduated from high school. Each team will be limited to a maximum of 10 members each. A team may start and continue a game with five Co-Ed Volleyball League Organizes players: three men and two women or vice versa, but not four men and one female or vice versa. If there are people who are interested in playing, but do not have enough members for their own team, you too are encouraged to attend the organizational meet ing Thursday. June 8. 8 p.m. Also for all who are under 18 years of age and who are still in high school, an organizational meeting will be held at the Recrea tion office on Thursday. Junior Olympic Track Program Begins Here Boys and girls ages 8-17 are invited to participate in the Junior Olympic Track Program which is being sponsored in Hoke County by the Parks and Recreation Com mission. Those interested should report for practice Monday. May 22. at Hoke County High School from 3:30 til 5 o'clock. Participation will be in age groups: 10-11: 12-13; 14-15: 16-17. Events ottered are : 100. 200. and 440 yard dash; 880. mile run. and two mile run; 120 and 400 meter hurdles; mile race walk and half mile race walk: long, triple and high jump; pole vault; shot put; discus; javelin; 440 and mile relay. The Junior Olympic Track Pro gram is an outgrowth of the Olympics designed by Olympic champion Rev. Bob Richards. Sears is the national sponsor and the Amateur Athletic Union will provide awards for the first four places in each event. Spring Concert At Sandhills This Sunday The Sandhills Community College Orchestra will present the Annual Spring Concert at 3:30 Sunday afternoon. May 21. in the Student Union Building on campus. The program includes selections of Mozart. Luigini. Brahms. Ruinsky - Korsakoff, Bartock and other composers, and highlights from Bernstein's "West Side Story."
