Ambulance (Continued from Page I ) ^otton in the county this year ^ecause of the rain. School Program By a vote of 3-to-2, the board authorized Hoke Superintendent of Schools Raz Autry to apply for a grant to set up an in-school suspension program.. He said youngsters who are suspended from school now roam the streets down town. The proposed program would create a special class for suspended students that would isolate them from the rest of the student body. The federal grant from the Law Enforcement Assistance Admin istration for $16,000 "will give us the chance to hire a good discipli arian," Autry said. He said the program will be tried at the high school if the grant is approved. Board members who voted against the proposal said they wanted more time to study it. DeVane said he was afraid the county would have to take over the program after the first year. It would be a one-year grant. O Other BuaineM In other business Monday, the board reappointed Betty Rogers to a three-year term on the Social Services Board.
