Fulford McMillan of Wagram visited Misses Lib and Lois Sumner Sun day night. 1-40 Opening Set North Carolina Secretary of Transportation Thomas W. Brad shaw. Jr. announced plans this week for the opening of 1-40 from southeast of Swannanoa to US-70 east of Black Mountain. The 6.4-mile segment is expected to open July 4-5, weather permit ting. The opening of this portion of 1-40 will eliminate the present traffic congestion in the town of Black Mountain. Total construc tion cost of the project was SI 2.5 million.
