(?2<H1Lcl(L Mrs. Steve Phillips, Social Reporter, 875-4171 Dew - Littrell Wedding Vows Solemnized In Red Springs Miss Wanda Rae Littrell, daugh !'? ?f. and Mrs- Raymond Littrell of Red Springs, became the bride of Edward Ray Dew, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dew of Kaetord, on Sunday, January 21, in a double ring ceremony held at 3:00 P-m. in the Westside Baptist Church Red Springs. The Rev. Merle A. Johnson was the of ficiating minister. The church was decorated with two white wicker baskets with white gladioli, mums, and blue cam a tions, and four seven - branched candelabra with greenery. Mary Lewis of Rockingham provided wedding music. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of white organza fashioned with U-shaped neckline, sneer bishop sleeves, empire bodice, and a full skirt which extended into a chapel - length tram. Wide chantilly lace accented the gown in vertical placement on the front of the bodice and the skirt. A tiny white bow was placed at the waist front. The wide chantilly lace continued on the back of the skirt in a horizontal position. She wore an elbow - length veil with matching lace, attached to a lace - covered cap. Miss Shellie Heinsohn of Evans ville, Ind. served as maid of honor, and Mrs. Sylvia Bowen of Aber deen was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Doris Dew and Margaret Dew of Raleigh, sisters of the bridegroom, and Nena Littrell of Boiling AFB, Washington. DC., sister - in - law of the bride. Her attendants wore floor - length gowns of cotillion blue knit, featuring a cowl neckline, empire bodice, and full skirt. The honor attendants carried a nosegay of w'hite daisies and blue carnations with babies' bfeath. The bride maids carried a single white mum with babies' breath and matching streamers. Miss Allison Dew niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. She carried a white wicker basket with blue carnations and white daisies. She wore a turquoise carnation and babies' breath in her hair. Floating Shower For Miss Bishop Miss Kathy Bishop was honored on January 30 at a floating shower held at the Dundarrach Com munity House. Hostesses were Miss Rhonda West and Mrs. Billv Norton. Upon arrival. Miss Bishop was presented a corsage of blue and white carnations. Approximately twenty-five guests dropped in. Gifts were displayed as guests arrived. A blue and white color scheme was used. I he refreshment table was centered with white wedding bells. Cake squares, nuts, mints and punch were served. Miss Cashwell Shower Honoree Miss Debbie Cashwell was hon ored Monday night with a bridal shower. Iwenty-one guests were served cake squares, nuts, mints, cheese biscuits and punch. Hostesses for the occassion were Miss Selena Livingston and Miss Kathy Bishop. Couple Celebrates Fiftieth Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. N.T. Bundy celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday. Feb. 4, with their children. Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Hines of Asheville: Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bundy and son, Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Bundy and chil dren. Mr. and Mrs. James Bundy and son. and Mrs. J.K. Biggs, all of Fayetteville; and Miss Joanne Bundy. and Mrs. Diane Russell of Raeford. Births Mr. and Mrs. Mike Prince announce the birth of a daughter. Michelle Macko. at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville, Fla.. on February 3. 1979. Mrs. Prince is the former Pat Macko. Both Mr. and Mrs. Prince are former resi dents of Raeford. Mrs. Edward Ray Dew Harry C. Dew served as best man for his son. Ushers were Tony Littrell of Rockingham and Mike Littrell of Boiling AFB, Wash ington, D.C., brothers of the bride; Fred Dew. Jr. of Fayetteville and Powell Dew of Raleigh, nephews of the bridegroom. The bride's mother wore a formal gown of beige polyester knit featuring long sleeves, a V-neck line, and lace trim. The bride groom's mother wore a formal gown of apricot polyester knit with matching cape. They also wore a white orchid. The bride's grandmother wore a blue polyester dress with matching jacket and a corsage of white carnations. Mrs. Gene Carter was hostess to members of her bridge club and three visitors on Thursday evening of last week. Visitors were: Mrs. Hank Richards. Mrs. June John son, and Mrs. Avery Connell. Guests were served a dessert course upon arrival and iced drinks, candy and popcorn during progressions. Winners for the evening were: Mrs. William Niven, club high; Mrs. Avery Connell. visitor high; Mrs. June Johnson, consolation; and Mrs. Alfred Leach, bingo. Mrs Carter After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, the couple will reside in Hoke County. The bride is a graduate of Hoke High School and is employed as bookkeeper at John's Texaco in Red Springs. The bridegroom is a graduate of Hoke High School, attended Sandhills Community College, and is self - employed in farming. Cake Cutting A Cake Cutting was held immediately following the rehearsal in the church Fellowship Hall. Cake was served by Gail .Woodcox and Sadie Smith. Donna Scales, cousin of the bride, and Ann Dew, sister - in - law of the bridegroom, poured punch and served coffee. The bride's book was kept by Ruth Moore, aunt of the bride. Hosting the luncheon with Mrs. Niven was Mrs. Sam Copper of Rockingham. Mrs. McKenzie recently resigned from her job as administrative assistant for the Health Depart ment. She and her husband. Norman and their children now live at Seven Lakes. Birthdays Elizabeth Calhoun Miss Elizabeth Calhoun cele brated her third birthday with a party at her home on Saturday afternoon. Birthday cake, ice cream, and Coke were served after gifts were opened. Party favors were given to her guests. Mrs. Patterson Feted At Shower Mrs. Weaver Patterson was honored Friday night with a miscel laneous bridal shower at the home of Mrs. Jesse Gulledge. Approximately 45 guests were present. Out of town guests were Mrs. Siddi Parker, her mother, her sister, Donna Parker, Mrs. Joyce Gilbert and Elsie Wade. F ayetteville Orchestra At College Saturday The Fayetteville Symphony Or chestra will present its second concert of the season on Saturday evening, beginning at 8, in Reeves Auditorium on the campus of Methodist College at Fayetteville. Composed of approximately 50 area musicians and several mem bers of the North Carolina Symphony, the Fayetteville Sym phony annually presents three con certs under the direction of con ductor Harlan Duenow. Edwin Grzesnikowski, a violinist who is currently the visiting artist at Sandhills Community College, will join the Symphony for the Febraury concert. Grzesnikowski has been performing in concerts for the past 20 years, playing to audiences from New York City to Guadalajara. Mexico. Prior to becoming Artist ? in - Residence at Sandhills Community College. Grzesnikowski was Artist - in - Residence with the North Carolina Chamber Players during the Loblolly Arts Festival at Duke University. The program for concert in cludes Michael Glinka's "Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla," Georges Bizet's "L'Arlesienne Suite No. 1." Felix Mendelssohn's "Symphony No. 5 (Reformation) Op. 107. and Wolfgang Mozart's "Concerto #4 D Major K 218." These selections chosen by conductor Duenow will provide an evening of music for residents of the area. Season tickets will be honored for this concert. Individuals who do not have season tickets may pur chase tickets at the door prior to the concert. Tickets for students and military people holding ranks of E-l through E-3 are 75 cents each; and for other adults. $2.
