McKoy - Singleton/ Vows Are Spoken Saturday Arlene Singletary, daughter of Mrs. John F. Singletary and James W. McKoy, son of Mr. and Mrs. James McKoy of Raeford were married Saturday. May 24, at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. The Rev. C.L. Betha officiated at the double ring ceremony. Wed ding music was provided bv Ed ward Melvin, pianist, and Valerie McKoy, soloist, sister of the groom. The bride was escorted by her brother, Wendell Singletary. She wore a white Queen Anne's neck line gown with long chantilly lace sleeves with an empire bodice covered with seeded pearls, and a train of three layers of chantilly lace. Matron of Honor was Mrs. Veronica McPhatter, who wore solid pink with matching picture hat and carried burgundy flowers. Honorary attendant was Miss Alonda Singletary, who was attired just like the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Annie R. Hadley. Miss Valerie McKoy and Miss Linda McKoy. They wore pink full length dresses with a large chiffon collar. Pink spring hats were worn by all attendants. Marshall Hadley was best man for the groom. Ushers were Alonza McKoy, Terry- McKoy, Willis Clark and Carlos Singletary. Honorary ushers were Clea McPhatter and Calvin Hadley. Child attendants were Keisha McLean as flower girl, and ring bearer was Todd Carter. The bride is an employee of Southern National Bank in Raeford and the groom is emploved at Burlington, Ind. They will make their home in Raeford. RECEPTION The reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church. The table was centered with an ar rangement of white carnations, pink rose buds, and burgundy flowers, garnished with babies' breath and greenery-. Minnie McKoy was in charge. BARBECUE COOKOUT The bride's sisters hosted a cookout on the lawn of their mother's house for the bride and groom. Approximately 100 guests attended. Luncheon Fetes MissCorbett, June Bride-elect A luncheon honoring Miss Den ise Corbett. June 8th bride-elect of Peter Sawyer, was held on Satur day. May 24. at the home of Mrs. Julius Jordan. Social Reporter. 875-4171 Parkton Church Is Scene Of Jackson-Barbour Weddinq The marriage of Miss Melba Jean Barbour and William David Jackson, Jr. was solemnized in a three o'clock ceremony on Sunday, May 25, at the Parkton Baptist Church. The Rev. Frank Bowers officiated for the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Barbour of Davis's Bridge and the bridegroom, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William David Jackson, Sr. of Parkton. Mrs. David R. Parnell, organist, and Mrs. J.D. Cobb, Jr. provided wedding music. Selections included "O Perfect Love" and "The Great est of These Is Love." The altar setting included three seven-branched colonial can delabra with globes and tapers entwined with greenery, centered by a mass arrangement of spring flowers in rainbow colors with a double kneeling bench. The pews of the mothers were marked with colonial seat markers with globes and tapers surrounded by flowers and streamers. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white organza and Chantillv-type lace. The high necked bodice, bishop sleeves, and triple flounced skirt train were of the same chantilly lace. She wore a matching lace cap and a three-tiered lace trimmed veil. Her colonial bouquet was of white roses, daisies, and gypsophila, with an accent of yellow roses. Miss Debbie Armstrong served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Charlene Averitt of Raeford; Millie Sanders of McColl. S.C.. cousin of the bridegroom: Mrs. Michael Smith of Parkton; and Tina Worman of Burnville, Pa. cousin of the bridegroom. The attendants wore rainbow colored gowns with spaghetti straps and full sunburst pleated skirts with cacoon jackets and matching picture hats. They carried colonial bouquets of spring flowers in rainbow colors. Miss Melissa Lawing was flower girl, and Josh Gartrell was ring bearer. The flower girl carried a basket of mixed flowers. Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. Denny Parker of Rocky Mt., Miss Dawn Lawing of Parkton, Mrs. Dennis Davis of Selma, cousins of the bride; and Miss Sheila Mc Intyre of Red Springs. They were all attired in rainbow-colored gowns of different styles and wore a corsage of carnations. Mr. Jackson served as his son's best man. Jr. rosetta colored gown with a sheer coat of polyester chiffon and long sheer sleeves. The bridegroom's mother wore a mauve colored gown fashioned with spaghetti straps and fully crystal pleated skirt with nylon chiffon capelet. They both wore corsages of rosebuds. The grand mothers wore carnaUon corsages. For traveling, the bride wore a casual sleeveless summer dress of black and white with white shawl. After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple with make their home in Parkton. The bride is a graduate of Sandhills Community College and the bridegroom is a senior at N.C. State University. Gainey kept the bridal registry. REHEARSAL DINNER The family of the bridegroom hosted the rehearsal dinner on Saturday evening at the bride groom's home. Those attending were the bride's mother and grandmother, the groom's mother and grandmother, and her wedding attendants. Wood-Rognerud Wedding Held Mary Elizabeth Rognerud and Rocky Lewis Wood, both of Winston - Salem, were married on May 23 in the morning at eleven o'clock in Center Grove Baptist Church, Winston - Salem. The Rev. Ronald Ryan officiated at the double ring ceremony. Music was furnished by guitarist. Mr. Lee Terry. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert E. Rognerud of Winston-Salem. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Wood of Rockfish. The bride wore a formal long length gown of cream colored with long lace sleeves. She wore baby's breath in her hair and carried a bouquet of summer arrangements of pink, yellow and white. Mrs. Bret Terry of Winston Salem was matron of honor. She wore a pink pleated formal gown with sheer shawl and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Bret Terry served as best man. The bride is a 1977 graduate of West Forsyth Senior High School and attended Wingate College. The groom is a 1977 graduate of Hoke High and attended Wingate College. He is presently employed as assistant manager of Wendy's in Winston - Salem. After a wedding trip to the S.C. coast, the couple will be at home in Winston-Salem. RECEPTION Following the wedding, later in the evening a surprise reception was held at the home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood. The dining table was covered with a wedding tablecloth and the center held an arrangement of yellow roses. Each end of the table Mr and Mrs. Rncky Lewis Wood held a single yellow candle with greenery. The two - tiered wedding cake, topped with bride and groom was decorated in yellow, white and green. Guests were greeted by Mrs. Oscar Wood, aunt of the groom. and Younger Wood, brother of the ?room. Punch was poured by Mi^ andra Wood and wedding cake was served by Miss Gathael Wood, sisters of the groom.
