Social Reporter, 875-4171 Suzanne Wood, John Balfour Exchange Vows Here The Raeford United Methodist Church was the setting for the marriage of Miss Suzanne Marie Wood and John Goldie Balfour, Jr. on Saturday, May 24, at 3:00 p.m. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Kelly Wilson. Wedding music was furnished by Mrs. Lynn Maxwell, organist, who played "We've Only Just Begun", "Just the Wav You Are", "Longer Than, "One Hand, One Heart ,and other traditional wedding songs. The parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Roy Weaver Wood of Raeford and Mr. and Mrs. John Goldie Balfour of Lumber Bridge. The church altar was decorated with two floral arrangements of yellow snapdragons, wnite carna tions, and yellow and white daisies ? in brass urns and two seven ? branched candelabra. Family pews 1 were marked with white bows. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore the bridal gown of her mother, which was of empire design of pure silk taffeta and rosepoint lace fashioned with sabrina neckline and cap sleeves. The skirt was accented with a chapel train of rosepoint lace. Her Juliet cap, which was covered in chantilly lace and seed pearls, was attached to a walking length lace - i edged veil. She carried a nosegay of yellow silk roses, and stephanotis, white miniature carnations, babies' breath, and daisies. Mrs. Sharon Wood Shirer was matron of honor for her sister. She wore a gown of peach nyesta and chiffon with spaghetti straps, A-lined pleated skirt, and chiffon cape tied at the shoulders. She carried a nosegay of white and ^ yellow daisies with babies' breath. ^ Bridesmaids, whose gowns and flowers were identical to that of the honor attendant, were Sally Camp bell, Lisa Dalton, and Leatha Causey, cousin of the bride, all of Raeford, and Marian Wood of Newton, cousin of the bride. Miss Mendy Causey, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a peach floral eyelet dress of pinafore style and carried a basket of yellow daisies and Boston fern. W Ringbearer was Randy Wood, who carried a pillow of embroid ered linen made by the sister of the bride. Mr. Balfour served as his son's best man. Ushers were Roy Wood, Jr. and Richard Wood, brothers of the bride. Budd Shirer. brother - in - law of the bride, all of Raeford, and Sean Dail and Scott Dail, cousins of the bridegroom, of o Raleigh. The mother of the bride was attired in a gown of honey Qiana and chiffon featuring bishop sleeves and a Qiana tie at the waist sprinkled with irridescent rhine stones. The bridegroom's mother wore a gown of yellow chiffon over taffeta of shirt waist style with cumber bund. For traveling, the bride wore a 0 sundress of coral terry with match ing jacket and a corsage of yellow daisies. The couple will reside in Lumber Bridge. The bride is a graduate of Hoke High School and is attending Sandhills Community College. Also a graduate of Hoke High School, the bridegroom attended N.C. State University and is associated with his father in farming. RECEPTION The parents of the bride enter tained at a reception in the church fellowship hall. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Warner greeted guests, and goodbyes were said by Mrs. Kermit Wood, Jr. Mrs. Thomas Wood, aunt of the bride, poured punch, and cake was served by Mrs. Shelia Goodman, g| aunt of the bridegroom. The bridal ^ registry was kept by Pamela Har den. Tea girls were Misses Leslie Adams, Karen Boyles, and Kim Colston, all of Raeford; Miss Carolyn Page of Clio, S.C.; and Misses Mary Beth Moses and Katie Moses of Park Hall, Md. The dining table was covered with the bride's grandmother's Army ? Navy tablecloth and cen 0 tered with an arrangement of yellow snapdragons, white carna tions. and yellow and white daisies. The bridal couple used the silver cake knife which was used by the bridegroom's parents at their wed ding reception to cut the wedding cake. REHEARSAL DINNER Mr. and Mrs. John Balfour hosted the rehearsal dinner on Mrs. John Goldie Balfour, Jr. Friday evening at the JFR Bam in Southern Pines. Tables were covered with white tablecloths and centered with ar rangements of roses and mixed summer flowers. Wedding bells and mementoes were also used for decorations. A toast was given to the bridal couple. The bride groom's parents presented the bride with a gift of white pearl earrings. BRIDESMAIDS' LUNCHEON The bridesmaids' luncheon was held at the home of Mrs. Julian Johnson with Mrs. Eddie Baker, Mrs. Vickie Balfour. Mrs. Louise Harlow, and Mrs. Lillian Wood as hostesses. Upon arrival, the bride was presented with a corsage of white daisies. The luncheon tables were covered with white tablecloths with arrangements of roses and summer flowers used on each table. The honoree was presented with Bridal Showers Given For Miss Wingfield Melody ReDonna Wingfield, bride-elect of Ronnie G. Goodman of Raeford was honored with a bridal shower given by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lakedale Church of God in Fayetteville on May 8. The church fellowship hall was decorated with pink rosebuds, and a floral and candelabra center piece. on a white tablecloth. The bride-elect was presented a corsage of white and pink carnations. Refreshments were served following the opening of gifts by the bride elect. Mrs. Carlos Goodman, mother of the bridegroom-elect, was a special guest. Melody Wingfield was given a lingerie shower by the young ladies of the Lakedale Church of God in Fayetteville on Saturday, May 25th at 5:30 p.m. She was presented a corsage of pink carnations. After games were played re freshments were served. The table was covered with a lace tablecloth decorated with pink and blue candles and an arrangement of pink and blue dried flowers. After refreshments the gifts were opened. Melody is the bride-elect of Ronnie Goodman. Miss Tucker Becomes Bride Of Charles Ramsey Sunday On May 25, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, at the Raeford United Methodist Church, Miss Suzanne Tucker became the bride of Charles Edward Ramsey. Miss Tucker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack A. Tucker. Mr. Ramsey is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny A. Ramsey. Performing the wedding was the Rev. C.L. McGee of Laurinburg, uncle of the bride and the Rev. Kelly J. Wilson pastor of the Raeford United Methodist Church. A program of wedding music was furnished by Mrs. Steven McNeill, organist. Miss Amy Hemmons, vocalist, sang "The Wedding song," and "Lord's Prayer." Mr. Don Brock, vocalist and Miss Hemmons sang a duet, "Let It Be Me." Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a formal white organza and chantilly-type lace gown. The bodice had a Queen Ann neckline and lace bishop sleeves. The organza and lace formed alternating tiers on the skirt and chapel train. Her bridal head wear of organza flowers inter spersed with pearls, forming a face-framing halo, held her elbow length veil of white silk illusion. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white daisies with satin streamers. Miss Teresa Carol Tucker, sister of the bride was maid of honor. She wore a nile green jersey dress made with empire bodice, spaghetti straps and a long flowing skirt, and a chiffon cape. The bridesmaids were Miss Sandy Tucker, sister of the bride. Miss Teresa Ramsey sister of the groom. Miss Lisa Crowder, Miss Amy Hemmons. Miss Kimberly Oxendine. Miss Mary Willcox and Miss Kathy Williams, all of Rae ford. Their gowns were identical to that of the honor attendant. All carried daisies with green streamers. Johnny A. Ramsey served as best man for his son. Ushers were Bill and David Ramsey, brothers of the groom, Jerry L. Tucker, brother of the bride, Edward Cato and Bruce Bryant of Fayetteville, Edward Pennell and David McNeill of Raeford. The mother of the bride wore a formal gown of turquoise with a knife pleated skirt and a chiffon cape. Mother of the groom wore a blue formal sleeveless blouson top with long pinch pleated shirt of chiffon. RECEPTION Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained with a reception in the fellowship hall of the Raeford United Methodist Church. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. RazAutry, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bartch. The bride's register was kept by Miss Elaine Surles, of Fayetteville. and Miss Susan Cook of Raeford. The bride's table was centered with a candelabra, with a floral arrangement of yellow roses & white daisies. Mrs. Doris Floyd, Mrs. Otis Crowder, Mrs. Orville Crowder, and Mrs. Wilbur Carter. Aunt of the bride served bridal cake squares. Mrs. Ralph Callo way, Mrs. Leonard Wiggins, and Mrs. Gary Adkins, and Mrs. Lula Davis served punch. Cheese straws, nuts and mints were also served. Goodbyes were said by Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Williams and Mr. and Mrs. David Hodgin. Serving as tea girls, were Dodi Williams, Lisa Williams, Jennifer Wiggins. Sara Coker, Chrystal Glisson and Alice Adkins. The bride graduated from Hoke County High School and is a Senior at Sandhills Community College School of Nursing. The groom graduated from Hoke County High School, attended Fayetteville Technical Institute and Mrs. Charles Edward Ramsey is employed with Kelly Springfield of Fayetteville. After a wedding trip to the North Carolina coast, the couple will reside in Raeford. COKE PARTY Mrs. Richard Coker and Mrs. George Wood entertained with a coke party for Miss Tucker on Saturday, May Pth at the Coker home. Guests were invited into the dining room where sausage pin wheels. donut rounds, finger sand wiches, and cheese straws were served. Mrs. Johnny Ramsey, served coffee and Mrs. Jack Tucker served cokes. Summer flowers were used throughout the house.
