Loaning Of Foundation Funds Jaycees Act To Prevent Recurrence The president of the North Carotin* Jaycees May 21 issued a statement in connection with the recent public revelation that funds raised for the Burn Center in Chapel Hill had been diverted to pay to the national Jaycce or Sanitation delinquent dues of local | chapters. The Executive Committee of the North Carolina Jaycees discovered through a preliminary audit that funds had been loaned from the North Carolina Jaycees Founda tion. Inc. to the North Carolina Javcees. Inc. Through action of the Executive Committee this past weekend, steps | have been taken to repay these amounts immediately. The North Carolina Jaycees recognize this situation and have taken positive steps to remedy this as soon as possible, and to insure this not happening again. Those steps taken andapproved by the new Executive Cbmmittce are: 1. All dues and supplies will be on a cash only basis. There will be no credit and no exceptions. 2. An audit committee has been formed to fully and completely assist the independent auditing firm. 3. All checks written from the North Carolina Jaycces Founda tion. Inc. will require three authentic signatures in order for the check to be valid. 4. That a loan be secured for the S56.000 to be placed in the Foundation account immediately. 5. Upon Harold's request, that another vote by secret ballot once again be held at the Local Officers College on lun 6th. 7th. & 8th by the new Executive Committee and local presidents after the facts are in to determine the direction of Past State president. Harold Her ring. remaining a candidate for National Jaycee President. Several put state presidents met at my request to go over these recommendations. They are con cerned and committed to con fronting the problem and have reaffirmed the new Executive Committee's decisions to deal with this situation honestly, accurately, and truthfully. They agreed with the steps taken to insure this situation not happening again and gave myself and tw new Executive Committee a committment to be of assistance and to let all the facts be known. We are proud of our past accomplishmens across our state and in our communities. The North Carolina Jaycee Memorial Burn Center is a reality because of the efforts and hard work of the North Carolina Javcees. We initiated the drive to raise funds for this Burn Center and have already placed in January. 1977 a check to the Burn Center Foundation for S300.000 which they have on deposit. We are also proud that we have been a major contributor because of our efforts through the local chapters to Boys Home. Camp Easter. Cystic Fibrosis. Muscular Dystrophy, as well as many others, and are committed to raising funds to build chapels at each of the four mental retardation centers across North Carolina. Our chapters across this state have completed many projects for the benefit of their communities and we are committed to continue to provide the positive impact in our state through community service and leadership training. ,, ?nwn~" - ? "Tithe of Life," a reading skit, presenting the 1980 Birthday objec tive of the Women of the Church, was staged in the Presbyterian Church sanctuary on Sunday even ing. May 18. The heavy rain did not keep the people from gathering at the Fire Station and at the tents for plates.
