The new change, effective May 1 . was authorized by the North Caro lina Utilities Commission. The change in policy mostly affects home builders and contractors of residences, apartment complexes. business and industrial plants. * * * At one time there were more than 200.000 blue whales, the largest animals on earth, in the oceans. Today, only about 10.000 may survive, says National Geogra phic World magazine. A. A. Meetings Wed. 8 p.m. Nursing Home Dining Room George T. Pate, general com mercial and marketing manager, said. "Previously, we provided prewiring without charge. We re covered part of our costs of installing wire through service charges to the new residents when they applied for telephone service. In today's competitive market, we must be reasonably assured of recovering parts of our installation costs by charging when the inside wiring is installed." Prewiring is done during the initial construction phase so that the wires will be concealed when the building is completed. The prewiring charges include a secondary service order charge and a premises visit charge totalling S 10.00 for residence installation and SI 5.50 for business installa tions and an inside wiring charge for each outlet of S4.35 for resi dence phones and $5.15 for busi ness phones. Agricultural Extension Agent] Hoke County farmers should clean up the empty pesticide con tainers lying around the ends of fields and their homes. Many times you get busy and just throw them down. They are some times left with chemicals in the bottom. This is very dangerous for the children in the neighborhood. You are encouraged to rinse these containers three times before getting rid of them. Either bury them in the ground or gather them together and take them to the landfill. Remember, people are safe if the containers are not left around the area. ? ? ? County tobacco growers are strongly encouraged to follow di rections carefully when MH 30 is applied to your tobacco for sucker control. The West German's are deciding to not buy tobacco with a residue of MH 30 that is higher than normal recommendation. This will limit the export of tobacco and could cause prices to be lower than they should be. Other coun tries are beginning to use MH 30 for sucker control and this com bined with our high residue will give more than they want in the finished product. * ? * A series of meetings will be held this fall to certify commercial applicators, public operators, and dealer pesticide operators. They will be started around mid - September and end up just before Christmas. They will be held over the entire state. Some other classes will be held in the early spring. A list of these schools will be pub lishd in mid summer. worthless check. SI 15.70 resit u tion to David H. Hodgin. Teal Oil Co.. and costs. John Otis Pickens. Jr., Washing ton.
