Bottoms - Ferrell Couple Married In Saxapahaw Miss Anna Harllee Ferrell and Raymond Mark Bottoms were mar ried in a two o'clock ceremony on Saturday, August 9, in the Saxapa haw United Methodist Church. The Reverends Clark Barfleld of Saxapahaw and N. Oliver of Char lotte officiated for the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett N. Ferrell of Saxapahaw and the granddaughter of Mrs. Carl Freeman of Raerord. The bridegrooms's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond C. Bottoms of High Point. Mrs. Carl Tillman of Burlington, organist and Miss Tabitha Lohr, vocalist of Warrenton, Va. provid ed nuptial music. Selections includ ed "One Hand, One Heart," "Wedding Prayer", and "I Will Sing New Songs of Gladness". The church altar was decorated with an arrangement of pink giadiola, white pompons, and greenery, and the front of the church, with palm branches and two candelabra. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a cubite gown of imported silk organza fashioned with a portrait neckline of crushed organza edged with Venice lace creating a cap sleeve effect. The bodice was appliqued with Venice lace and the circular skirt had vertical appliques of lace at the flounced nemline which extended into a chapel train. Her fingertip veil of illusion fell from a cap of Venice lace, and she carried a bouquet of bridal pink roses, babies' breath, and greenery atop her white Bible. Miss Mary Helen Ferrell of Durham was her sister's maid of honor. She wore a gown of pink chiffon trimmed with lace, fashion ed with a wide flounced neckline, a natural waistline, and a full length skirt trimmed with a wide flounce and lace. She carried a bouquet of white and pink carnations with babies' breath and greenery. Bridesmaids, whose dresses and flowers were identical to those of the honor attendant, were Miss Beth Ferrell of Saxapahaw, Miss Ann Blackmon of High Point, and Mrs. Carol Bottoms of Winston Salem. Raymond C. Bottoms served as his son s best man. Ushers were Timothy Bottoms of Winston- Sal em, Jim Cheek and Jimmy Nichol son of High Point. Mrs. Raymond Mark Bottoms The mother of the bride wore a formal gown of Jade mist Qiana and chinon accented with pearls. The bridegrooms's mother wore a formal gown of apricot chiffon with an empire waistline, a cape collar, and a V-neckline. After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will reside in High Point. The bride is a 1977 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has been teaching music at P.B. Smith in Warrenton, Va. for the past three years. The bridegroom attended Wes tern Carolina and is a 1973 graduate of The Pennsylvania Gun smith School in Pittsburgh. He is the owner and operator of "The Sportsman Shop' in High Point and is employed by Western Elec tric in Winston-Salem. RECEPTION The parents of the bride enter tained at a reception in the Mebane Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. The parents of the bridal couple, the maid of honor, and the bride and bridegroom received guests. Mrs. Carlene Blackmon. aunt of the bride, of High Point served cake. The bride's book was kept by Miss Beth Ferrell. Assisting were Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Williams of Saxapahaw and the Rev. and Mrs. Wyatt Aiken of Mebane. REHEARSAL DINNER The bridegroom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner on Friday evening following the rehearsal at "The Bakatsias Restaurant" for members of the wedding party. COFFEE Miss Ferrell was honored on Thursday at a morning coffee at the home of Mrs. Wyatt Aiken Jr. in Mebane, with Mrs. Stuart Ritchie of Charlotte as co-hostess. The bride was presented a corsage of white carnations upon her arrival. Guests were invited into the dining room where a lovely ar rangement of summer flowers and candles accented the table. Coffee, cheese biscuits, sausage balls, lem on tarts, pumpkin bread, and cookies were served. Bridal games were enjoyed by the guests which included the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Carl Freeman, and the mother of the hostesses, Mrs. H.R. McLean of Raeford. The bride was presented a warming tray and wooden kitchen accessories including a receipe box in which each guest filed some of her favorite recipes. Approaching Marriage -r. Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Currie of Raeford announce the engagement of her daughter, Peggy Dianne Cecil, to William Fayssoux Owens of Laurinburg. Peggy is a 1976 graduate of Hoke County High School. She received her B.A. degree in Philosophy and Religion at Pembroke State Uni versity and is presently employed by Fayetteville Presbytery's Camp Monroe. The groom is a 1978 graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College where he received a B.A. degree in Religion. He is presently employed by Marlboro Academy in Bennetts ville. S.C. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Owens. Jr. of Gastonia, N.C. The wedding is planned for August 30. at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Christian Women The Sandhills Christian Women's Club will hold its August meeting at the Country Club of North Carolina in Southern Pines on Thursday, August 21st at 11:30 a.m. CWC is an interde nominational women's group with no membership or dues. All are welcome to attend. The buffet lunch is $5. Guest speaker will be Frances Workman from Rock Hill, S.C. Frances is a vivacious gal. a realtor and an Area Representative. Mary Ann Scully of The Scullery will bring the Special Feature and will be demonstrating the Cuisinart Food Processor. The Special Music will be brought by Julian Long 111 of Southern Pines. Julian is a voice student at the Juliard School of Music in New York City, and is presently announcing at WIOZ in Southern Pines. A free, preschool nursery is provided at the Southern Pines United Methodist Church. Make a reservation for your child as you make your own. Please bring a sandwich for your child. Virginia and Mr. Barry Lynn Pearson of Front Royal, Virginia were married in a double ring ceremony in the Ocean View Baptist Church, Norfolk Va. on Saturday the 2bth of July. Miss Gouldin is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. T. Winston Gouldin of Nor folk and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. Grady Leach of Raeford. Mr. Pearson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Berkley Pearson of Front Royal, Virginia. The traditional wedding service, led by the Reverend Hiram L. Harrison, included an antiphonal reading of the thirteenth chapter of 1 Corinthians by The Reverend and Mrs. Wesley F. Brown. The groomsmen escorted the brides maids to the altar as the congrega tion sang. "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty." The marriage vows were spoken from memory as the bride and groom pledged their loves and lives together in the presence of God. family and friends. Miss Judy Vogan. of Norfolk, was the organist. The soloist. Miss Janet Ogden of Fredericksburg, presented "The Wedding Song" and later in the ceremony, "The Lord's Prayer." The matron of honor was Mrs. Wesley F. Brown, the bride's sister of Moncure, N.C. Mr. Berkley Pearson, the groom's father served as his best man. Maids of honor were Miss Catherine Wright Gouldin and Miss Cynthia Winston Gouldin, sisters of the bride. The brides maids were Miss Bridget Ellen Byrne, Richmond. Miss Ellen Rose Leach, Charlotte. N.C.; Miss Sheryl Lee Gibson and Mrs. Tho mas Sylvia. Norfolk,; and Mrs. Marcia Dunn. Spotsylvania. The attendants wore medium green Qiana gowns and carried cascade |] bouquets of pink pixie carnations, purple and pink statice. babies' breath and ivy. The honor atten dants wore a fugie mum and babies' breath in their hair. The groomsmen were Berkley Wilson Pearson of Front Royal, and Larry Glenn Pearson of Blacksburg, brothers of the groom; Winston Miller Gouldin, Norfolk, brother of the bride; the Reverend Wesley Brown of Moncure, N.C.; a Mr. Ronald L. Llewellyn, Dum fries. Mr. Jeffrey Hazlette of Rich mond. and Mr. Jay T. Thompson. Ill of Richmond. The bride given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white organza appliqued with Venetian lace. Her veil fell from a coronet appliqued with Venetian lace and seed pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of white sweetheart roses, stephanotis, fugie mums, ivy and ' babies' breath. The bride's parents entertained with a reception in the church social hall following the ceremony. After a wedding cruise to Ber muda. they will make their home in Norfolk, Va. The bride attended Meredith College. Raleigh, N.C. and is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy. Mr. Pearson is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg, Va. and the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy, Rich mond Va.
