<^<^cXjoJL Mrs. Steve Phillips. Social Reporter, 875-4171 Weidner-McArthur Wedding Vows Solemnized At Pittman Grove The marriage of Miss Rhonda Dale McArthur of Raeford and James F. Weidner of Fort Bragg was solemnized on Sunday, March 8, at 3:00 p.m. in the Pittman Grove Baptist Church at Route 2, Raeford. The Rev. Mack Mussel white officiated for the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Wanda Godwin, pianist, provided nuptial music. The bride is the daughter of Morton and Lena McArthur of Route 1, Raeford. The bride groom's parents are Jack Weidner of Yuma, Arizona, and Mrs. R.L. Thews of Tuscon, Arizona. The church was decorated with blue and white gladioli and chry santhemums, babies' breath, with fern balls furnishing backdrops for the arrangements. Two special can delabra and two branched cande labra with lighted white tapers further enhanced the setting. Blue satin pewmarkers were used to mark family pews. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white slipper satin with fitted lace sleeves and matching lace ruffles at the neck line and yoke. The skirt extended into a cathedral-lenght train as did her Spanish mantilla. The mantilla of silk illusion and Spanish lace was made in Mexico and was given to the bride by the bridegroom's mother. Her bouquet consisted of Bridal roses, babies' breath, blue net puffs, and wedding lace with streamers. A detachable glamellia corsage centered the bouquet. Mrs. Diane Melton served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Rebecca Baker, sister of the bride. Raeford; Mrs. Tina Lynch, cousin of the bride. Candor; and Miss Donna McArthur, cousin of the bride, Fairmont. The attendants wore pale baby blue gowns of Qiana with fitted high waistlines, scooped necklines, and full bell skirts extending to the floor with a white satin ribbon belt. The bridesmaids carried a single large white mum with blue stream ers and the honor attendant carried two large mums with white stream ers. Miss Rene McArthur, sister of the bride, of Raeford was flower I girl. She wore a long-sleeved blue dress similar to that of the brides maids with a white lace collar. Ringbearer was Bobby Wayne McArthur. brother of the bride. He wore a navy suit and carried a pillow of blue lace. George Baker served as best man. Ushers were Burl Hardy, Aberdeen, uncle of the bride; Robert Humphrey. Shannon, cous in of the bride; and Bruce Swann, Raeford. The mother of the bride wore a fitted high-waisted dress of jade green knit featuring a yoke and sleeves made of matching jade lace. After a wedding trip to Asheville. the couple will reside at Route 1, Aberdeen. The bride graduated from Hoke High School and is employed by Blue Bell, Inc., of Aberdeen. The bridegroom attended school I in Tuscon. Arizona, and is present ly stationed with the Special Forces in Fort Bragg. RECEPTION Mr. and Mrs. David E. Hum phrey. Sr., of Shannon hosted the reception immediately following the ceremony in the fellowship hall of the church. Miss Terri Clark greeted guests and attended the bridal registry. I Mrs. Ingrid Madden and Miss Leslie Madden served cake. Punch was served by Mrs. Iola Smith. The three-tiered wedding cake was made and decorated by Mrs. Humphrey and Mrs. Doris Mc Arthur, aunts of the bride. REHEARSAL DINNER A rehearsal dinner was given on Saturday evening, March 7, by Mr. and Mrs. David E. Humphrey, Sr., ' of Shannon and Mr. and Mrs. Larry O. Mc Arthur of Fairmont at the Humphrey home. An arrangment of spring flowers centered the buffet table, and a matching candelabra arrangement with yellow tapers accented the dining table. SHOWERS The W.M.U. of the church ar Pittman Grove Baptist Church I hosted a Bridal Shower for Dale February 20th at the church fellow ship hall. Everyone of the church and friends and relatives of the bride were invited. Dale received ipany nice and useful gifts and the yV.M.U. presented her with an electric can opener. She was pre sented a beautiful corsage for the occasion by the W.M.U. Everyone had an enjoyable time of fellowship 4nd food as well as the sharing of ) tjie gifts. Mrs. James F. Weidner The ACTEENS and friends of the bride hosted a Lingerie Shower for Dale at the home of Mrs. Becky Baker, sister of the bride, February 21st. Dale received several pieces of lingerie as well as some other items and everyone had a good time. Among the acteens participating in the shower were Miss Karen Jack son, Miss Terri Clark, Miss Lisa Madden, Miss Christy Batton, Mrs. Myrtle Swann and others. Mrs. McFadyen Dinner Honoree Mrs. Frank McFadyen, recent bride, was honoree at a dinner par ty at the home of Mrs. John K. McNeill, Jr., North Fulton Street, on Tuesday evening of last week by members of her bridge club. A buffet was served from the dining table, covered with a white linen tablecloth and centered with an arrangement of jonquils and spirea. Guests were seated at small tables in the living room. Camellias centered each table, and other ar rangements adorned tables in the living room and hall. Co-hostesses were Miss Ellen Currie, Mrs. June Johnson, Mrs. A.R. Fitzsimons, Mrs. Sam< Mor ris, Mrs. Irvin Hubbard, Mrs. Faye Jordan and Mrs. Carlton Niven. After dinner bridge was played. Mrs. Fitzsimons was the recipient of the high score prize. UDC Meets "When We Flew the First Con federate Flag" was the subject at the Raeford United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter's March meeting held at the Hoke County Library. The flag was designed by Major Smith of Franklin County and was first raised at Louisburg. Mrs. Aline Wright was program leader, and Mrs. Ethel Monroe led the opening prayer. The president, Mrs. Lillian Wood, presided and led the ritual, allegiance, and salutes to the flags. Plans were made for the general convention to be held in Winston Salem on October 31 -November 6. The local chapter will furnish door prizes, favors, and items for prizes. It was voted to have the next meeting on April 3 so that all could attend the district meeting on April 10 in Aberdeen. The poem of the month, "Enlisted Today" was read by Miss Isabel McFadyen. An auction sale for the benefit of the treasury was held. The hostesses, Mrs. Treva Koonce and Mrs. Marie Blue Lee, served refresh ments carrying out a spring motif during the social hour. Personol Mrs. Lois Crumpler and children, Kim and Josh had lunch with Mrs. Wallace McLean on Saturday. The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Cape Fear High School and is employed by the Vander Fire Department. A June 14 wedding is planned at the. First Baptist Church in Raeford. The couple will reside in Fayetteville. Foyetteville Womon's Club Plans Trade Fair Do you enjoy hearing bands, watching doggers and other dancers, seeing Karati exhibitions or a Laurel and Hardy movie? These are some of the performing groups which will be entertaining at EXPO '81, the 14th Annual Trade Fair presented by the Woman's Club of Fayetteville March 28th and 29th at Cumberland County Memorial Arena. There will be a large judged Art Show with cash prizes, and artists and merchants will have exhibits of everything from A to Z: Animals, Campers, Building Materials, Jewelry, Crafts, Cosmetics, J'ools, Stoves, Plants. Food, Stained Glass and many, many more. The show has been planned with X-citement in mind, and there is fun for young and old. Register for prizes, listen to music and take advantage of give-a-ways.
