[ Lumbee River EMC photo.] EMC Yule Drive For Needy Gets Help The Lumbce River Electric Membership Corporation Emplo yees' Association picked up added community support in the past few days when Cablevision of Lumber ton and an anonymous donor added to the Christmas Care Drive being sponsored by that group. The drive will help needy families in Hoke. Robeson. Scotland and Cumberland counties. Added to the hundreds of pieces of clothing, food and toys in the last week were a S500 donation by a person who wished to remain anonymous and the donation of several new toys by Scott Bigelow. the manager of Cablevision of Lumberton. The $500 donation will be used to buy food and additional items of clothing for the numerous families which will receive help through this Christ mas project. According to Bigelow. Cablevi sion lias a project titled: "Toys For Tots." Instead of paying for instal lation. a person may bring in one new toy. These toys are then distri buted to children in need at Christmas time. The week of December 14 em ployees will be working up boxes for the families that have been selected. Deliveries will be made by the Employees' Association mem bers on their own time the week of Christmas. Christmas Care Drive chairman Earl Collins noted that many of the LREMC employees are coming to work every day with new donations from their own homes and their neighbors. "By getting an early start, we've been able to collect a lot of things for distribution." said Collins. "But there is a long time left for the public to make their dona tions." he added. "Any of our employees would be glad to pick up donations if transportation is a problem." The LREMC Employees Asso ciation will give receipts to anyone who needs them for income tax purposes.
