Hoke Girls, JVs Split Bucks Open '82 With Wins Hoke High's varsity Bucks started oft' the New Year with two victories, coming from behind Jan uary 5 for a 68-60 win over Terry Sanford at Fayetteville. then edging Scotland County Friday 58-5/ on the Hoke Court. Hoke's varsity girls and junior varsity boys broke even the same nights. The girhs lost to Terry Sanford 69-60. and the Hoke JVs won 66-45 January 5; on Friday, the girls clobbered Scotland 48-23: but the JVs lost. 44-42. The week's results left the boys' and girls' varsities with 5-5 records over-all. The Hoke squads were scheduled to play Reid Ross Tuesday at Hoke and Pinecrest Friday at PineCrest. January 15 is an open date on the schedule. In the January 5 game. Greg Hollingsworth scored 21 points for the Bucks as Hoke outscored the Fayetteville boys in the three remaining quarters after falling behind 21-9 in the opening frame. The Bucks had cut the Sanford lead to 9 points by intermission. They went ahead in the final period after pulling to 44-46 in the third. Mike Smith was the best scorer for the losers with 18. The girls' contest was the reverse of the boys. The Hoke girls were two points ahead at half time, then one point at the end of the third, but Sanford surged ahead in the final, outscoring the Hoke girls 18-8.
