Parker Rt. 1 , Box 498C Raeford, N.C. 28376 T imp had touched both you and I. Il had been quite a number of years On seeing me you began to cry But thin you pulled and hugged me near I felt the need to see you. we d been so far away Somehow deep down I think I knew That our visit on the farm that day Would be my final talk with you We talked of old times and memories. Sharing old dreams along with the new It seemed your life could never cease As you told me things you planned to do Reminiscing on jokes you d played on me Got hearty laughter from you But I d gotten even in childhood day s For I d also pulled a few It just couldn t be that long ago Thai life had not a care When I sat comfortably in your lap To laugh at childish things we shared Our day passed much loo qu'Ckly II was lime to say good bye I hugged you close and kissed you While trying to ignore the tears in our eyes But as I was about to leave I ran back one more lime To tell you how much I loved you And missed you more than anyone Grandaddy Here we departed, as we always must do I felt so peaceful just to know that you cared For we had a doseness no one else knew And memories and dreams that no one else shared We said good bye for one last time You surprised and saddened me On that cold and dreary day Although you could not help il You somehow slipped away I weep for the love in past memories And for those that will never be But because we were each others first It s somehow quite a bit harder for me For you took your hearty laughter. And things that were only ours to share Your quick blue eyes and smile are gone ? Now there sits your empty chair You ve left with things that I ve loved most And pu' an emptiness there I thank God for the last time I saw you To tell you I loved you and how much I cared But f know that you are out lhare ? Way out beyond the selling sun Working happily on your farm Using two hands Instead of just one ?
