Barrington Hoke High, Upchurch Choruses Given Clinic Dr. Clinton Parker from Ap palachian State University con ducted a Choral Clinic with Hoke High Chorus and Chorale and Up church Junior High Chorus on Fri day. Approximately 200 students were involved in the clinic. Dr. Parker is vice chancellor of academic-affairs. He is also the conductor of the Community Choir in Boone. Star Sessoms with 15 members present. Mrs. Mary Benkosky, president presided and Mrs. Herman Koonce led the devotion. After the conclusion of the business Mrs. Jean Sisk and Mrs. Mae Heath presented a program on "Household Money Control". The meeting was adjourned by reading the National Extension Home makers Council Creed in unison and refreshments were served by the hostess. Mrs. Charles Chason is having trouble with her eyes. She was to have had surgery last week but after re-evaluation it was postponed until a later day. Mrs. Grace English spent several days last week with her sister, Mrs. Wright Parker in Selma. Mrs. Daisy Bennett of Fayette ville visited Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Adcox the past Sunday. Mrs. Stanley Adcox visited her sister Mrs. Ludwell Hales in Moore County Hospital Sunday. Mrs. Hales had emergency surgery last week and had penumonia fol lowing. However, she is improving at this report and hopes to be released soon. Mr. and Mrs. David Gibson have moved into the house that was formerly his mothers' home on the Rockfish - Parkton Road. Mr. Gibson retired March 19 from Dover Textile in Shelby where he had been employed for the past 25 years. Mr. and Mrs. David Gibson had all of his eight brothers and sisters gathered at their home the past Saturday to welcome him back into the community. Miss Teresa Allen of Chester field, South Carolina spent the past weekend with her mother, Mrs. Alice Allan. Mr. and Mrs. E.T Brock, Jr. visited Mrs. Willie Shephard, Mr. and Mrs. William Sheppard, Ir. Maryland spent the past week with her father, Mr. Alex Ray and brother, Thomas Ray. Alex Ray has been having trouble with one of his eyes recently but is is better at this report. Mrs. Grady English, Mrs. Louise Watson, Mr. A.L. Long, Jr. and Kemp Waller of Fayetteville at tended the funeral of Allen Mc Daniel of Asheboro the past Sun day. Mr. McDaniel was married to their cousin, the former Myrtle Long. They also visited their cousin, Hall Long of Asheboro, who is ill. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gene King and sons, Jason and Joel of Washington, North Carolina spent the weekend with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Lynn B. Dees. Mr. and Mrs. Brown Hendrix, Jr. and son, Sammy of Arabia also visited Mr. and Mrs. Dees. It was a family reunion for the Dees family and they all went out to dinner. Mrs. Myrtle Monroe and son - in - law, T. Carter, Mrs. Rosa Sessoms and Miss Ray of the Seventy-First community visited the Priest family last Sunday. Miss Joy Overton was dinner guest of Miss Mary Priest last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Register. Mrs. John Strickland and grand daughter, visited the Priest family the past Monday. Mrs. Ethel Monroe is at home after her "week stay" in the hospital. She says she still has good and bad days but really feels that she is better at this report.
