This correspondent had one of the most horrifying experience of a lifetime the past Friday about noon. Having just left the dentist ?office a short distance away, drove Vdown Main Street and parked in front of Home Food Store. As I got out of the car a gentleman im mediately came to the curb and told me my car was on fire. By this time it was obvious, as fire could be seen under the car and smoke was coming from under the hood from all sides. I was so frightened I could hardly remember my name!! Before I could collect my wits and get to a 0phone, someone had notified the Fire Department and police, thanks to the thoughtful and helpful people in Raeford! Several people came out with their portable fire extinguishers to help until the firemen arrived, which was promptly. It was an awful experience seeing the car burn but as there was not an explosion and no one was injuried, have much to be thankful for, ? Would like to express gratitude to everyone for being so helpful!! A special thanks to Franklin Teal for providing me with transportation home.
