Celebrate Anniversary

Mr. & Mrs. Robert L. Tyncr
were honored Saturday night with
a surprise party celebrating their
25th Wedding Anniversary at the
Church of God Fellowship Hall.
The couple was taken out to eat by
their daughters and sons-in-law,
i Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Thompkins
and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Quick
and children. The party was also
given by their children including
their son, Barry Tyner.
Upon arrival the couple was
greeted by guests and presented a
corsage and boutonniere. After
greeting the couple refreshments of
nuts, cake, finger sandwiches,
potato chips, dip, crackers and
punch were served. Cake was serv
ed by Lisa Caulder, niece of the
couple, and punch was poured by
Mrs. Harrison Quick. The guest
register was kept by Mrs. John E.
Caulder, mother of Mrs. Tyner.
The couple received many nice
gifts of silver and other things. Ap
proximately 35 guests attended.

On Fortieth Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Baker
A reception honoring Mr. and
Mrs. David Baker on their fortieth
wedding anniversary was given by
their children on Sunday, April 18,
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Huff on E. Donaldson Avenue.

honored couple were each pre
sented a watch by their children.

Department
Holds Meeting
The Public Affairs Department
of the Raeford Woman's Club met
on Tuesday, April 13 at the home
of Mrs. Tom McBryde. Co-hostess
was Mrs. J.Q. Chestnutt. Twelve
members and two prospective
members, Mrs. Clarence Kinlaw,
and Mrs. Clara Constantine were
present.
The program "Crime Prevention
Awareness ' was presented by Miss
Alice Lancaster, Miss Kim Haw
kins, and Miss Amy Parsons. Miss
Lancaster stated that 40 million
crimes are committed each year
and that they affect the quality of
life of every citizen. As a result,
citizens must be aware of the ways
they can help prevent crime.
Misses Parsons and Hawkins
showed members ways they can
prevent car theft, burglary, rape,
robbery and purse snatching.
In its business session, the
department elected Mrs. Louise
Koonce as 1982-83 treasurer and
Miss Jean Hodgin, 1982-83 vice
chairman. Mrs. Rena Smith was
remembered with a memorial to the
American Cancer Society. Plans
were made for a Membership Tea
to be held on Saturday, April 24.
Hostesses served delicious re
freshments of coffee and igloos.

To Meet
The Chaminade Music Club will
hold its April meeting on Friday,
April 23, at 7:45 p.m. at the home
of Mrs. Ralph Huff.

Audrian Chambers of Pinebluff;
Melvin and Clyde Chambers and
Elaine Calhoun of Raeford at
tended the funeral on Saturday of
their aunt, Nettie Chambers of
Stokesdale.
David Oehlers of Jacksonville, Fla.
visited his cousin Matt Barrington
last week. He is the grandson of
W.R. Barrington. Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Haire returned
home Tuesday after vacationing in
Florida for two weeks. They visited
with Mr. and Mrs*. Henry Hobson
in Port St. Joe and with the Rev.
and Mrs. Kermit Wheeler in Mt.
Dora, where the Wheeler's son.
Ken. and Mrs. Ovita McClung
were married on Thursday, April 8.
On Saturday evening they attended
a dinner in the Wheeler's honor
and on Sunday, the Easter service,
at the Rev. Wheeler's church in
Mt. Dora. They also visited Disney
World and other sites of interest.
Mr. and Mrs. Kip Nash returned
home to Raeford after spending a
week in Kernersville with Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Maroney, Lauren,
and Clay.
Buddy Willis and daughter Debbie
of Raeford and Mr. and Mrs.
Marvin English and children, San
dra and Michael of Morehead City
spent several days last week at Cape
Hatteras.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Picklesimer of
Lexington, Ky. spent the week
visiting with their daughter, and
her family Mrs. Bobby Lentz.

Howard-Goza Vows
Spoken At Home
The marriage vows of Patricia
Goza and John Howard were
solemnized on April 12 at a four
o'clock ceremony held at the
Howard home. The Rev. Ben F.
Ferguson was the officiating min
ister for the double ring ceremony.
Wedding music was provided by
pianist, Mrs. Larry Hutchison,
sister of the bridegroom of Lees
burg, Virginia, and Steve Phillips,
vocalist, who sang "Open Thine
Eyes," "You Light Up My Life,"
and "The Lord's Prayer."
The bridal couple were attended
by their children. Kelly Goza
served as maid of honor, and Amy
Howard, as bridesmaid. Flower girl
was Rebecca Goza. Kevin Howard
was his father's best man, and
Brian Howard, usher.
Following the ceremony a recep
tion was hosted by the bride's
mother, Mrs. Angus Currie, and
sister. Mrs. Wes Williams at the
Howard home. Refreshments were
served from the dining room table
which was centered with a candel
abra arrangement of mixed spring
flowers and pink tapers. Wedding
cake was served by Mrs. Larry
Hutchison, and punch, by Mrs.
Steve Phillips.
A wedding brunch was held at
noon Monday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Steve Phillips. Brunch
was served from the buffet, and
places were laid for fifteen in the
dining room and sunroom. Fresh
flowers were used to decorate the
dining area.
The couple will reside at their
home in the Dundarrach area.
Out of town guests were the
bridegroom's mother and sister,
Mrs. Charles Howard and Mrs.
Larry Hutchison, of Leesburg,
Virginia.

April 17 at Moore Memorial Hospi

Mrs. Hopkins is the former Audrey
Elizabeth Chambers and is the
granddaughter of Mrs. Minnie
Chambers of Rt. 3, Raeford.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Maroney,
Jr., of Kernersville announce the
birth of a daughter, Judith Lauren,
on April 4, at Moses Cone Hospital
in Greensboro. Mrs. Maroney is
the former Judith Faulk.
Mr. Maroney is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Maroney, Sr. of
Raeford and the grandson of Mr.
and Mrs. Kip Nash of Raeford.

McFadyen of Saluda, S.C. an

Mary Kathryn, on March 19.

Twenty guests enjoyed a deli
cious three course luncheon.

white bridal wreath were used

Drop-In
Honors Couple
Miss Martha Ann Wood and Mr.
Andy Brown, who will be married
on May 30th, were honored Satur
day evening with a Drop-In at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. David
Howell on Bethel Road.
Upon arrival, the honoree was
presented a silk, rose corsage.
Guests were invited into the dining
area, where they were served
assorted party foods. The table,
which was covered with a linen
cloth, was centered with an ar
rangement of roses, flanked on
either side with candles. Mixed
spring flowers were used through
out the home.
Approximately thirty guests at
tended. The bridal couple was
presented with a gift of brass by the
host and hostess.
