Hasty-Compton Vows Spoken
In High Point Saturday
Miss Scheryl Lynn Compton
and Robert Eugene Hasty were
united in marriage on Saturday,
April 24, at 6:00 p.m., in High
Point at the home of Dr. Earl
Crow, the officiating clergyman.
Greenery and arrangements ot
spring flowers decorated the home
for the double ring ceremony. Wed
ding music was provided by Tam
0 mie Hendrix.
The bride is the daughter of
Elizabeth Hobbs of Cleveland,
Ohio, and the bridegroom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hasty
of Raeford.
The bride was given in marriage
by David Stewart. He was attired
in a formal gown of organza
fashioned with a high neckline lace
yoke with chiffon cape. Her
A fingertip veil was attached to a
^ hairband cap, and she carried a
bouquet of spring flowers.
Deborah Hobbs was her sister's
maid of honor. She wore a light
blue ruffled dress with high
neckline and carried spring
flowers.
Ed Hasty was his son's best
man, and Ron Ellis, usher.
The mother of the bride wore a
light blue dress with a corsage of
. blue and white, and the
W bridegroom's mother, a mauve
dress with matching corsage.
For traveling, the bride wore a
beige linen dress with matching ac
cessories.
After a wedding trip to Boone,
the couple will reside in Raeford.
The bride graduated from
Ragsdale High School and received
an associate secretarial science
^ degree from Guilford Technical
? Institute.
The bridegroom is a graduate of
Hoke High School and Robeson
Technical College.

reception at her home in High
Point immediately following the

deen and Harriett Lorraine Webb
of Raeford were married on Satur
day, April 24, at 1:00 p.m at the
home of the bridegroom. The Rev.
Joe Chandler, cousin of the
bridegroom of Greensboro, N.C.,
was the officiating minister for the
double-ring ceremony.
? The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Reuben H. Webb of
Raeford and the bridegroom is the
son of Mrs. C.H. Holder of Aber
deen and the late Mr. C.H.
Holder.
Misty Lewis, daughter of the
bride, was maid of honor.
Christopher Scott Holder was his
father's best man.
The newlyweds were hosts for a
reception following the wedding
^ which included close friends and
W relatives of the couple.
The couple is honeymooning at
Sea Brook Island in South
Carolina.
The bride is currently employed
at Moore Memorial Hospital in
Pinehurst as a nurse.
The bridegroom is employed by
J. P. Stevens in Aberdeen as an of
fice manager.
^ The couple will live in Aberdeen.

Degree in Nursing.
Mr. Oxendine is also a graduate of

presently attending the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He is pursuing a degree in Phar
macy.

Couple Honored
With Dinner
Miss Linda Mercer and Ted
Davis were honored at a dinner
party on Friday, April 23rd in the
home of Mrs. J.W. Walker.
Hosts for the occasion were Mr.
and Mrs. George King and Mr.
and Mrs. David Howell. Sixteen
guests enjoyed a three course din
ner served in the candlelit dining
room.
Arrangements of azaleas and
tulips were used in the living room
and hall. The dinner table held a
centerpiece of lilies of the valley,
azaleas, and fern.
Upon arrival, the bride elect was
presented a corsage of white
daisies and the groom-elect receiv
ed a matching boutonniere.
Out of town guests for the occa
sion were Mr. and Mrs. ' George
King, Jr. of Winston Salem.
The couple was presented with
gifts of silver and pewter by their
hosts.

Frances Anderson Monroe was
given on Friday, April 23, at Burl
ington Industries. Hosting the oc- ;
casion were friends and co-workers
at Burlington.
The tables were decorated with
arrangements of cut spring
flowers. The sixty-five guests en
joyed an assortment of party foods
and punch.
A miscellaneous bridal shower
was given honoring Frances
Monroe in the home of Rosa Cole
on Thursday evening April 22.
