Area Incidents Hoke Man Charged With Rape A Hoke County man was being held under S50.000 bond Tuesday on a charge of first-degree rape in a sexual attack on his b-year-old daughter, the Sheriff s Department reported. The defendant was identified as Bobby Louis Green. 24. of Rt. 2. Box 4%, Raeford. Lisenby Trailer Park. The Sheriff s Department re ceived a call May 11 from the Fayetteville Police Department say ing the child was at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Sheriff s deputies quoted the child as saying her father had committed a sexual act. The report says Green was in custody outside the hospital and was taken to the Hoke County Jail by Hoke officers. The report says the child had to undergo surgery for the injury but had returned home since then. Her mother. Mrs. Dail Green, was quoted as saying she found the child, Samantha, lying on a bed. bleeding. Other cases reported to the department follow. Willie Scurlock. Rt. 1. Lumber Bridge, reported May 3 someone broke into his house and stole a television set, a scanner, a CB radio, a chain saw, and a .22 caliber rifle. Sandra Holcomb of Box 238. Raeford. reported S 1. 825 worth ot personal property stolen by some one who broke into her home May b. The missing property consists of a microwave oven, a 12-guage shotgun, a portable color television set. a black-and-white TV set. a stereo and two speakers, a Polaroid camera and a guitar. Raeford Police Chief Leonard Wiggins reported the following complaints received by police. The Pantry on East Central Avenue reported a man took a SI. 45 bottle of wine from a cooler and started walking out without paying for it. When the clerk called to him. he dropped the bottle and he ran. The bottle broke. John Wesley McLean reported Sunday someone entered his pool room on South Main Street, broke into a pool table and a juke box and stole S15 in quarters. The thief also stole a S30 jacket from the pool rtxim . Robert Billinger reported Tues day someone stole the battery and cable valued at S60 from his car while it was parked at the Hoke County Health Department. He was working at House of Raeford at the time. College News Two students from Hoke Coun ty received degrees from Wake Forest University May 17. They were among about 1,025 students who graduated during commence ment exercises at the university. They are George McCown King, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. George M. King of 28376 McMillan St.. Raeford, and Tony Lee Littrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lit trell of Rt. 1, Red Springs. King and Littrell graduated from the Babcock Graduate School of Management and receiv ed Master of Business Administra tion degrees. They did their undergraduate study at UNC-Chapel Hill. King received the B.A. degree in English and political science. Blaine Sutton recently was in ducted into the Pi Kappa Phi social fraternity at UNC-W and has been elected to the office of secretary for next year. In addition, he was also selected to attend the fraterni ty's national convention this sum mer at the University of Virginia. Blaine, who is an intermediate - education major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sutton.
