LEGION GIFT - American Legion Post 20 of Raeford gave the Hoke
County Children s Center 5100 Thursday afternoon. Here Post Adjutant
Bill Jones is giving the check to the Center's director. Judy Crawley. The
Renter serves pre-school-age children who have disabilities of various kinds.
Wones learned from Mrs. Rhonda Holt that the Center needs help and
obtained authorization from the post to give the check. Mrs. Holt gave him
the information because she is interested in helping the Center, though she
has no children there, Mrs. Crawley said. Mrs. Holt is on the staff of the
Raeford city administration. Mrs. Crawley said the Center has to raise a
total of S 35.000 for next year's operations primarily because of the loss of
federal funds by the Reagan administration's expense-cutting. She says the
Center also needs more room, because she has had to turn away for lack of
sufficient space parents who want their children admitted to the Center.
