Cfaaminade Music Club Celebrates 60th Anniversary The Chaminade Music Club met the evening of May 1 1 in celebra tion of its 60th Anniversary and honoring the Past Presidents. After a delicious salad and dessert dinner, the president. Mrs. Archie Howard, called the meeting to order with the singing of the Federation Hymn, accompanied by Mrs. Steve Phillips, and followed by the club collect. During the brief business ses sion, Mrs. Neal McNeil was elected president-elect. The president an nounced that the club rating sheet sent to the North Carolina Federa tion of Music Gubs, showed the club had earned 1 ,654 points for the year and that the club had received the certificate of award for outstanding achievement for its yearbook for 1981-82. Mrs. Julius Jordan, Historian, read a history of the 60 years of the club. Sixteen past presidents were honored with small corsages with their names and years they served as president. The presidents were also honored by the club's joining the Past Presidents Assembly of the North Carolina Federation. The money contributed to this assembly will be used for scholarships for young musicians. Four charter members, Mrs. H.C. McLauchlin, Mrs. Kate Cov ington, Mrs. R.B. Lewis and Mrs. Hugh Lowe were recognized. Three honorary members, Mrs. H.C. McLauchlin, Mrs. J.W. Walker and Miss Maude Poole, were also recognized. Miss Maude Poole delighted everyone with her own poem to the past presidents. Mrs. Hugh Lowe, program leader, announced the following program: Piano Duo. Mrs. J.H. Austin and Mrs. Hugh Lowe; Two choral selections by an ensemble. directed by Miss Maude Poole; a piano solo by Mrs. Jeff Davis. The program concluded with a sing-a long directed by several members of the club. Out of town guests included Mrs. H.C. McLauchlin of Charlotte and Dunn3"41 MrS' Le?"
