The board also allowed to stand the superintendent's decision to transfer to a teacher aide positon Brenda Parkins from her present job of secretary of McLauchlin School. Mrs. Parkins objected, saying she didn't know specifically what the complaints against her _were and asked to be told so she Vbould answer them. Autry, how ever. said Mrs. Parkins had been through the established grievance procedure for school system em ployees. He and members of the | school board said they had received complaints from teachers and from people outside the school about Mrs. Parkins's manner in re sponding to questions, and that the management of the office was not satisfactory. ^ Mrs. Parkins asked whether she was fired if she didn't accept the teacher's aide job, and Autry replied that she would be appointed secretary at a school other than McLauchlin if a principal asked for her. but that the principal would be informed about the complaints made against her at McLauchlin. On the audit contract, the board voted to let it again to Frank Baker 0)f Pittard & Perry of Raeford, with Cameron voting "no." The action was taken after Baker agreed to match the lowest bid of S3, 250. He had bid S3, 750 originally. Cameron said this put the board in the position of choosing between two people, and that he would, favor Baker if Baker were as much as $25 lower than the other low bidder. Presently, a student expelled for a drug violation is allowed to attend the Extended Day classes, held during the afternoon and night. This was established for students unable because of jobs to attend the regular high school classes. Autry said that now the Extended Day classes will be used for the purpose they were created for.
