Deaths And Funerals Henhal Smith Hershal "Smitty" Smith, 58, of Rt. 4, Raeford, died Sunday. The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon in Crumpler Funeral Home by Dr. John Ropp. Burial was in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville. He was an Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Florence Smith; his sons, Hershal Smith of the home, and Michael D. Smith of Wichita Falls, Tex.; his daughters, Stephanie Peterson of the home, Mrs. Denise Liv ingston of Raeford, and Mrs. Marlaine Carter of Virginia Beach, Va.; his brother, Alfred Smith of Casper, Wyo.; his sisters, Mrs. Bertha McDaniel of Wichita, Kans. , and Mrs. Florence Stolen of Rogersville, Mo.; and two grand children. AWARD WINNER -- Tammy Glenn Harrell, a Hoke County High School student, has been 9 named a 1982 United States Na tional Award winner in business education by the U.S. Achievement Academy. She is the daughter of Virginia C. Harrell of Raeford and Thomas Harrell of Nashville, Tenn. Miss Harrell was nominated for the award by Mrs. Shirley Parsons, her business education teacher.
