Leap Tops Her Olympics Mark Kathy Second In Lite Games Kathy McMillan Ray of Raeford. silver medalist in the 1976 Olym pics, finished second by a half inch Saturday in the women's long jump in the Lite Summer Games at Wallace Wade Stadium at Duke University. But her jump was her best in two years -? 21 feet 1 1 inches, which was %ths inch better than her medal winning jump in the Montreal Olympics. A reporter quoted her as saying. "I've been competing at an average level recently, not at the world-class level like today, and 1 was studying in there." She finished behind Carol Lewis, a University of Houston (Tex.) sophomore. Mrs. Ray. now 24, made her best jump in 1976, though not in the Olympics -- 22 feet 3 inches in the Olympics trials a month before the international games. Mrs. Ray. now living in lngle wood, Calif., with her husband and Blazers Lose To Bragg, Down Red Springs The Hoke Co. Blazers go down to the wire this weekend holding on to first place in the Tri-Countv Semi pro Baseball League, leading by a game and a half over Ft. Bragg and showing a 16 wins. 6 losses record for the season. In play this weekend, the Blazers lust on Saturday to Ft. Hoke Coun ty Parks and Recreation Commission will sponsor, once again a Men's Arm Wrestling Championship at Gibson Gym at Hoke High on Wednesday, July 21, at 8 p.m. In order to compete you must fill in the registration blank below and return it to the Parks and Recreation office prior to 5 p.m. July 21. The contest will be a double elimination with the following weight divisions: Right handed - 0-135, 136-150, 151-165, 166-185, 186-200, 201-220, 22I-up; Left handed. 0-176, 177-up. There must be at least four participants per division before a trophy will be awarded. The winner in each division will receive a trophy. There is a $1 entry fee for participant per division.
