<^^6-CjLoiL Mrs. Steve Phillips, Social Reporter, 8? .>-4171 Miss McLaurin, Mr. Beatly Wed In Double-Ring Ceremony Miss Vicki Arne McLaurin of Raeford and Jerry Beatty of Hamlet were married on Saturday, June 26, at 5:00 p.m. in the Piney Grove Baptist Church of Raeford. Chap lain Miles Murphy, Jr., uncle of the bride, officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carnell McLaurin of , Raeford. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cicero Beatty, Sr. of Shannon. Nuptial music was provided by -Russell McAllister, Jr., organist. Geno McAllister and Regina Cun ningham sang "Borne Again", and Gloria McLaughlin sang "More," "The Wedding Song" and "The Lord's Prayer." The church was decorated with i- two nine-branched candelabra ac x'cented with greenery and two seven-branched candelabra decor ated with white and pink carna tions, pink snapdragons, white daisies, babies' breath, and green ery. A floral arrangement of mixed summer flowers and baskets of fern were also used. The mother's pews were marked with lighted candles. The Trinity and double kneeling bench were used to complete the ^ wedding theme. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white formal gown of organza and Chantilly lace with a Queen-Anne neckline. The bodice featured an empire waistline adorned with a Chantilly lace band and scattered seed pearls. The long organza sleeves with lace motifs ended at the wrist with a cuff of lace. The A-lined skirt was ac I rented with Chantilly lace and crystal pleating extending into a chapel length train. She wore a picture hat covered with Chantilly lace accented with a bouquet of flowers that matched the bridal bouquet of pink and white roses and pink and white daisies. Saundra McLaurin served as her sister's maid of honor, and Debra Carthens, as matron of honor. They wore long crystal-pleated ^ gowns of green lustrous polyester knit featuring a lace bodice. They carried two long-stemmed white spider mums with pink streamers. Bridesmaids, whose gowns were pink and identical to that of the honor attendants were Venus Mc Laurin, sister of the bride, Linda Beatty and Priscilla Beatty, sisters of the bridegroom, and Linda Adams, cousin of the bride. They * carried a single long-stemmed white spider mum with green streamers. William Grace served as best man and Charles Gibson as chief usher. Other ushers were Clayton Singletary. John McDougald, Boris McGregor, and Andre McLaurin, Mrs. Jerry Beatty brother of the bride. Flower girls were Erica Leggett and Charmaine Reid. Seneka Mc Allister served as ring bearer. The mother of the bride wore a formal pink polyester crystal pleated gown with chiffon sleeves and a cymbidium orchid corsage. The mother of the groom wore a long green polyester gown with an overlay of lace. She also wore a cymbidium orchid corsage. The grandmother of the bride wore a long sleeve green gown of polyester knit. Her corsage was of white carnations. The bride is a 1977 graduate of Hoke High School and was em ployed by Macks Stores. The bridegroom, also a 1977 graduate of Hoke High School, attends Richmond Tech. in Hamlet and is employed with CPL in Hamlet. RECEPTION Immediately following the cere mony a reception was held at the Civic Center given by the sister of the bride. Misses Malinda Leggett and Shari Simmons kept the guest and gift register. COOKOUT The employees of Macks Stores, where the bride was formerly employed, gave a cookout for the bridal couple at the home of Mrs. Myra Harris on May 30. BRIDESMAIDS' SUPPER On June 17 the bridesmaids were hostesses to a bridal supper at the K&W Cafeteria in Fayetteville. Upon arrival, the bride was pre sented a corsage of white carna tions. BRIDAL SHOWER On June 25 Miss Malinda Leg gett, cousin of the bride, enter tained with a bridal shower at the home of Mrs. Mary Leggett, aunt of the bride. Upon arrival, the bride was presented with a corsage of pink carnations and babies' breath. BRIDESMAIDS' LUNCHEON On Saturday, June 26, at 1:00 p.m.. a bridesmaids' luncheon was held at the home of the bride's parents. Hostesses were the sisters of the bride. Tables were set for eight on the patio. Gifts were presented to the bridesmaids at this time by the bride. Miss Peckham Is Honored . On Birthday Mr. and Mrs. M.V. Peele honored their granddaughter, De laine Peckham of Chapel Hill with a birthday dinner at the Peele home Sunday, July 4th. Those enjoying the occasion with her, other than her grandparents were, Mr. and Mrs. Wade Terry of Laurinburg, Mike Peckham and Beth Dorton of Chapel Hill, Mr. and Mrs. David Scull. Judy and Randy Scull, Steve Matthews, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Peele and children Steve and Leah, all of Raeford. She re9eived many nice gifts. Severn - Phillips Couple Married In Raleigh Robin Leigh Phillips and Mich ael Constantine Severn, both of Raleigh, were married Saturday in St. John's Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Shirley M. Meadows and Bruce M. Phillips of Raleigh. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Bobby L. Severn of Raleigh. The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. W.C. Phillips of Raeford. After a reception at the Mac Gregor Downs Country Club, the couple left on their wedding cruise Holland -Creech Onzie Creech of Shannon and Mrs. Louise Creech of Red Springs would like to announce the mar riage of their daughter, Melissa Kay to Patrick James Holland of Raeford, grandson of Mrs. Verna Wright Stanton of Raeford. He is the son of Bill Holland Sr. of Fayetteville and the late Peggy Holland. Their marriage took place at the Dillon Chapel in South Carolina on Tuesday June 29, at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends attended. Barefoot-Bradley Miss Amber Bradley of War wick, Rhode Island and Pvt. Billy Howard Barefoot, Jr. of Raeford were married on June 25th in the Second Baptist Church with the Rev. McKeithan as officiating clergyman. TTie couple will reside in Rae ford. The bridegroom is stationed at Fort Bragg. Mrs. Barefoot Honored With Bridal Shower A floating bridal shower honor ing Mrs. Barefoot was given on Friday evening. July 2, at the Phillipi Community Building with Mrs. Jean Newton, Mrs. Bobby Posey, and Mrs. Helen Smith serving as hostesses. Special guest was the bride's mother, Mrs. Crystal Roberts of Rhode Island. A yellow and white motif was carried out. The refreshment table was covered with a handmade lace tablecloth made by the bride groom's great-grandmother, with a yellow underlay and centered with an arrangement of roses, babies' breath, and eucalyptus. Cook-out Given For Couple Mr. and Mrs. Martin Scarboro, Jr. of Raeford presented Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Holland with a cook out Saturday. July 3 at 7:00 p.m. in honor of their marriage. Joslyn Annette of Hope Mills, to Sgt. Kenneth Michael Dixon, son of James and Myrtle McCormick all of Raeford. An August 14th wedding is planned at the Miracle Temple Church in Fayetteville. The bride-elect is a 1974 graduate of Hoke High School and a 1 97b graduate of Durham College. She is employed with the Lumbee River EMC in Fayetteville.
