4-H Archery,
CPR Workshops Set
A 4-H archery workshop will be
held July 10 and July 17 from 9
a.m. to noon at the high school
(near tennis courts).
There is a registration fee of $2.
Arrows, bows, and targets will be
furnished for use in the class. The
class is open to anv vouth 919 vears
old.
A CPR and First Aid class for
9-12 year olds will be held July 12.
14 and 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at
the Hoke County Library. The

A leatherwork class will be held
July 12. 19, 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. The
class will be held at the home of the
instructor, George Ashley. A map
will be furnished for participants.
The registration fee is $3, which
covers materials needed to make
two items of leatherwork.
These classes are sponsored by
4-H. which is the youth phase of the
Agricultural Extension Service. In
order to register for the classes,
please call 875-2162 between 8 a.m.
and 5 p.m. Fees are due at the first
class.

Men's Softball competition
opened the week with Jones Inter
cable defeating Hollingsworth
Barbers 18-9. R. Taylor hit a
homer in the sixth inning and went
3-2 at bat for Jones Intercable.
Excitement continued, as Hard
& Heavy downed Beasley's in a
close one 5-3. Hard & Heavy was
led by C. Chandler 3-2 with a
homer in the first inning.
Tuesday night action concluded
as the Raeford Merchants slipped
past the All Stars 11 -10. J. Alex
ander sparked the Merchants going
4-3.
On Thursday. Men's Softball got
underway with a victory for the All
Stars 12-9 over Beasley's Body
Shop. Johnson picked up a homer
in the seventh to set the All Stars.
Game two of the night was
gathered by Jones Intercable 10-9
over Ephesus A's. Johnson set the
pace for Jones Intercable.
The final game of the week went
to Hollingsworth Barbers over Rae
ford Merchants 5-3. K. Carpenter
was 2-2. while D. Monroe went 2-3
at bat to lead Hollingsworth Bar
bers.

[right J was the other finalist in the match for the girls 12 and under
championship in the June 2b-27 Hoke Tennis Association Junior
Invitational Tournament. They are holding their trophies.
Arm Wrestling
\N ill our resigning champs hold on to their titles? Hoke Coun
ty Parks and Recreation Commission will sponsor, once again a
Men's Arm Wrestling Championship at Gibson Gym at Hoke
High on Wednesday, July 21, at 8 p.m.
In order to compete you must fill in the registration blank
below and return it to the Parks and Recreation office prior to 5
p.m. July 21. The contest will be a double elimination with the
following weight divisions:
Right handed - 0-135, 136-150. 151-165, 166-185, 186-200.
201-220. 22 1 -up
Left handed. 0-176. 177-up.
There must be at least four participants per division before a
trophy will be awarded. The winner in each division will receive
a trophy.
There is a SI entry lee for participant per division.

petition.
