Miss Susan Bounds was honored
on June 19 with a floating linen
shower. Mrs. Charles Lewis and
Mrs. Rufus Odom were co-host
esses at the Odom home in Red
Springs. Guests called between the
hours of 3 and 4:30.
Miss Bounds; her mother, Mrs.
Laurence Bounds; her grand
mother. Mrs. Paul Owens of
Burlington and Mrs. Bob Gentry,
mother of the prospective groom,
received in the foyer. Guests were
invited to the dining room table for
refreshments of coffee punch, ham
pin wheels, cheese biscuits, spiced
nuts, open-faced sandwiches,
cherry finger tarts, watermelon
rind pickles and date balls.
The dining room table was
covered with a rose cloth overlaid
with a Quaker-lace cloth. A mass
arrangement of red antherium,
American Beauty roses, matching
Queen Ann's Lace and Gypsophila
decorated the table.
Gifts were beautifully displayed
in the family room. Assisting with
serving were Mrs. Carl Bounds,
cousin of the bride-elect, and Mrs.
Mark Dunn of Garner. Good-byes
were said to Mrs. Eloise Jenkins.
The hostesses presented the
honoree with a lovely original
Chinese fruit bowl.
On Sunday evening. July 4, Miss
Susan Bounds and Gary Gentry
were honored with an ice-cream
supper at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Gene Currie of Red Springs.
Also hosting the occasion were Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Wilson and Mr. and
Mrs. Raymond Ammons.
Upon arrival Miss Bounds was
presented a corsage of white mini
mums. A red, white and blue color
scheme was used in decorating the
patio. The refreshment table was
covered with a red tablecloth and
centered with Ben Franklin and
Betsy Ross dolls.
Guests enjoyed a variety of
homemade ice creams and top
pings. Also served were a variety of
homemade cookies.
After Miss Bounds and Mr.
Gentry enjoyed opening gag gifts
and read descriptive poems about
the use of the gifts during their
married life, the hostesses pre
sented the couple with a toaster
oven and corning ware. A very
special gift was a booklet con
taining pictures of Mr. Gentry and
Miss Bounds from birth to adult
hood printed by Mr. Wilson.

Wood entertained at an ice cream
party at the Moses' home on
Sunday afternoon. July 11. honor
ing Miss Bounds.
The living room and fover were
decorated with shasta daisies and
roses, and day lilies were used in
the den.
Refreshments were served from
the dining room table which was
covered with a gold cutwork linen
cloth and centered with an arrange
ment of red silk poppies and blue
silk batchelor buttons in a natural
wicker basket. Homemade ice
cream, a variety of toppings,
homemade cookies, and nuts were
enjoyed by the guests.
The hostesses presented the
honoree with a yellow silk daisy
corsage and a gift of stainless steel
steak knives.
Out of town guests were Miss
Patty Owens of Graham and Mrs.
Lawrence Willis of Cheraw, S.C.

Bragg.

Red Springs High School and is
presently employed by the Town of
Red Springs as a water plant
operator.

at the country home of Mrs. John
Howard. Hostesses for the occasion
