Raeford Team Wins Area Softball Tournament Showtime of Racford, captured the WaJstove Invitation*] Softball Tournament this past weekend. Showtime*' only defeat came at the hands of the host team. Walstowe Baptist of Fayetteville. Showtime, meanwhile, had very impressive victories over Rock fish Baptist, Gardner's Methodist. Taco Bdi and Worthwood Temple. Leading hitters for Showtime were R. Taylor. H. Daniels (1 HR) Wavne Johnson (1 HR), Mac Lewis. Wm. Johnson. Larry Chacon (12-17 1 HR) and Dick McNeill. Other members of the champ ionship team are as follows: Mack Coxe. Grady Hardin Jr.. Tim Frahm. Steve Sawyer, Larry Beasley (1 HR). Tony Clark. Larry "Moose" McLean. Eddie Baker and David Daniels. Members unable to attend the tournament were David McNeill and Earl Daniels. Men's Softball Results In men's voftball July 6. Hard & Heavy defeated Hollingsworth Bar bers 3-2. N. Singletary, V. McDougald and S. Wallace were 1-3 for Hard & Heavy. G. Hollingsworth 3-3 and J. Davis 2-3 were the leading batters for Hollingsworth Barbers. Jones Intercable downed Raeford Merchants 14-12. L. Chason 4-4 including one home run was the leading batter for Jones Intercable. J. Alexander and D. McNeill were the heroes for Raeford Merchants with one home run each. Beasley's Body Shop defeated Ephesus A's 20-3. M. Sutton 4-5 with two homers, H. Thompson 2-4/two homers, and R. Edward 2-4 with one homer were the leading batters for Beasley's. Ephesus was led by D. Jackson. D. Smith, R. Home and Miller, all were 1-3. In Thursday night's action, the first game matched Beasley's Body Shop against Jones Intercable. Jones Intercable captured the win 5-4. M. Lewis and H. Daniels were 2-3 for Jones, and G. Mauney was the hero for Beasley's with 2-3. In the second game, the All Stars defeated Hollingsworth Barbers 16 2. L. Morrison 3-4 with one home run and R. Maynor 3-4 for the All Stars. G. Hollingsworth went 1-2 tor Hollingsworth Barbers. A piste of glass half an inch thick will not crack even when hit by a baseball thrown by a big league pitcher. A.A. Meetings Wed. 8 p.m. Nursing Home Dining Room The last game of the week matched Hard & Heavy against Ephesus A's. Hard Ac Heavy came out on top by the score of 12-4. H.
