Lentz Wins Legion Golf Tournament Bill Lentz with a seven handicap won the Fifth annual American Legion Golf Tournament with a net score of 59. Finishing second with a fe net score of 61 was Mike McDuffie. McDuffie's prize was a case of oil ? donated by Raeford Oil Co. His time was 7.14 seconds for the one-eighth of a mile. The victory gave him $800. the first prize. Forty-one drivers competed. The car Ray won with is the same which he drove to a new world's record of 10.54 seconds for a quarter of a mile April 30 at the International Hot Rod Association races at Rockingham. That speed is equal to 128.7$ miles per hour, Ray's next competition is due Saturday night, in the pro bracket drag races on the Cumber land County Dragway at Favette ville. Service Personnel Todd C. Gaines, son of Cecil A. Gaines of Rt. 1, Aberdeen, and Janet S. Gaines of Southern Pines, has completed training in funda mental military skills at the Army ROTC basic camp at Fort Knox. Ky. The basic camp is designed to give junior college graduates and college sophomores who have not taken ROTC courses the chance to enter the program. The camp also qualifies high school graduates for the ROTC program at any of the nation's six military junior colleges. During the encampment, cadets received training in basic rifle marksmanship, military drill and ceremonies, communications and individual and small unit tactics.
