- Graham Couple Wed In Double Ring Ceremony Miss Sylniette Delphine Graham and Michael Anthony McGill, both of Raeford, were married on Satur day, August 7, at 6:00 in the evening at the home of the bride, at 226 Wright Street, Raeford. Bishop Garence Ingram of High Point; officiated at the double ring cere mony. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Josephine Flowers of Raeford and Thomas Nicholson of Durham. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Winston McGill of Raeford. Music was rendered by Lois Butler and Miss Sharon Butler, organist. Miss Vanessa Butler and Miss Sharon Butler sang "You and I" and "The Lord's Prayer." Mrs. Lois Butler of Fayetteville directed the wedding. The outdoor wedding took place in the center of an arch, decorated with large burgundy football mums, white silk daisies and greenery. Two white doves with white and pink streamers centered the arch. The kneeling bench and round arrangements were decor ated with Gladiolas, carnations, chrysanthemums and starburst. There were twelve potted plants containing white daisies with pink and burgundy ribbons alongside the arch. The mother's pews were marked with large white ribbons. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white bridal gown of polyester sheer knit, lined with acetate taffets, trimmed with polyester lace with a stand up collar, and a Schiffle embroidered WAGON WHEEL RESTAURANT THURSDAY ft FRIDAY SHRIMP BASKET (about 20 shrimp) with FF, Slaw ft Huahpuppias $3 99 Tafca Out Orttor* CaN *7*4752 illusion front yoke. The slightly raised waist emphasized the pleated centerfront panel. Sheer sleeves with snap cuffs formed the chapel length train. Her hat was made of nylon netting, with a flower in the titled section, and trimmed with scattered pearls. She carried a round L'Innocence bou quet of Burgundy carnations, pink roses, white starburst and baby's breath. Iris Rowers, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. She wore a gown of pink lustrous polyester knit, featuring a shirred empire bodice with spaghetti straps. The lace capelet and an elongated back with a round neckline, underlined with pink. She carried a white football mum tipped in pink, surrounded with baby's breath and white streamers. Tawanna Graham, cousin of the bride, was head attendant. Other attendants were Melissa McGill. sister of the groom, Avis Flowers, sister of the bride, Delica Leggett. friend of the bride, all of Raeford, and Claressa Nicholson, sister of the bride, of Durham. They wore gowns identical to that of the maid of honor but of a softer shade of pink. They all carried a single long stem white mum dipped in pink, surrounded with baby's breath with pink streamers. They wore two miniature carnations with baby's breath as hair pieces. Fred McGill served as best man and Tommy Graham, cousin of the bride, served as head usher. Other ushers were Paul Everett, Lowell Simmons, Ronnie Lomack, Vin cent Flowers, brother of the bride, all of Raeford. She wore a white gown identical to that of the attendants, and carried a basket of petals with pink ribbon. Corey Clark, cousin of the groom, served as ringbearer. He was dressed in a white tuxedo identical to that of the bridegroom. The mother of the bride was attired in a full length princess style gown of lilac soft polyester. White lace trimmed the neckline and down the elbow-length butterfly sleeves. The bridegroom's mother wore a sharon rose gown with surplus bodice of lustrous polyester knit. The soft gathering at centerfront of skirt created a drape effect. Both mothers wore white double carnation corsages. Both grandmothers wore a white single carnation corsage. The bride is a graduate of Hoke County High School and will attend college next fall. The groom is a junior at Hoke County High School and is employed with Hardee's, Inc. RECEPTION The parents of the bridegroom entertained guests at the reception at the home of the bride. The table was covered with a burgundy and white cloth, centered with an arrangement of gladiolas, carnations, chrysanthemums and starburst. The large three tiered wedding cake, surrounded by four smaller tiered cakes, were placed at one end of the table, and served by Retha Long. Punch was served by Marilyn Jones from a bowl at the other end of the table. Other refreshments were an as sortment of hors'doeuvres and mints. Mrs. Loretta Graham also assisted at the reception. AFTER REHEARSAL DINNER On Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Winston McGill, parents of the groom-elect, assisted by Mrs. Josephine Flowers, mother of the bride-elect, were hosts at an after rehearsal dinner, at the home of Mrs. Flowers. Guests served themselves from a buffet consisting of potato salad, chicken, rice and gravy, green beam, Red Velvet cake and drinks. TUPPERWARE SHOWER Miss Delphine Graham, bride elect, was honored on July 17, at a surprise Tupperware shower at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Alma Graham. Hostesses were Tawanna Graham and Sarah Carpenter of Troy. Refreshments consisting of chicken salad, crackers, potato chips and cake were served with drinks. Gilchrist Family Have Reunion The family, relatives, and friends of the late Will Stephen Gilchrist celebrated their annual reunion on August 7th and 8th. The Gilchrist Homeplace was the site of this event. Mrs. Mattie Brown Gilchrist (wife of the late Mr. Gilchrist) served as hostess of ceremonies. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Gilchrist are, sons: the late William Dewey Gilchrist, Curtis Gilchrist, late Fred Gilchrist of the home, Willie Gilchrist, Jr., Bronx, New York, and Neil Gilchrist of the home, daughters: Mildred Gil christ Jones of Raeford, Lucille Gilchrist McLaughlin of Southern Pines, Thelma Gilchrist Seymore of Queens, N.Y., Pauline Gilchrist Mckayhan of Southern Pines, Reva Gilchrist McNair of Fayetteville and Hazel Gilchrist of New York, New York. Festivities began Saturday after noon with families, relatives, and friends arriving for dinner, sports, communion, and, just plain old talking, everyone having a good time. A memorial for the late Mr. Gilchrist was observed on Sunday at Piney Grove Baptist Church to close the occasion. The Gilchrist family would like to thank the many who worked, supported, and, or just prayed for this reunion's success. To Hold Meeting The Public Affairs Department of the Raeford Woman's Club will meet at the home of Miss Isabel McFadyen, on Tuesday evening, September 7, at 7:30. Mrs. David Scott McMillan McMillan - Johnson Vows Spoken Saturday A formal candlelight ceremony in the First Presbyterian Church, Red Springs was the setting for the marriage of Miss Virginia Elise Johnson and David Scott McMillan on Saturday, August 28, at three thirty o'clock in the afternoon. The Rev. Joseph Chalmers McCutchen performed the double-ring cere mony using the marriage service of the bride's maternal grandparents. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas Johnson, Jr. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Floyd Mc Millan of Red Springs and grand son of the late Mrs. Nelda T. Baucom of Raeford. A program of wedding music was presented by Elizabeth Campbell of Lumberton, organist; Miss Mary Anne Morrison and David Johnson of Chapel Hill, soloists; and the church choir. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Lovin and Mr. and Mrs. James Paden pre sided at the bridal registers in the vestibules of the church. The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore her mother's wedding gown of candle light bouquet taffeta. The Empire bodice was fashioned of Alencon lace embroidered with pearls and floral irridescents. The long sheath calla sleeves pointed over the wrists and the full skirt extended into a cathedral train. Her fingertip - tiered veil of silk tulle fell from Juliet cap of Alencon lace em broidered with pearls. She carried a cascading bouquet of wedding roses, phalaenopsis orchids, steph anotis, gypsophilia, and English ivy. Attending the bride as matron of honor was Mrs. William Glover of Garner, the bride's college room mate. Bridesmaids were Miss Mary Anne Morrison of Southern Pines, cousin of the bride; Mrs. Charles McLendon, Jr., of Richmond, Vir ginia, and Mrs. J.D. Nye, Jr., of Raeford, sisters of the groom; Mrs. John Butler of Winston-Salem, and Mrs. Stephen Tolar and Miss Cynthia Sherrill of Red Springs. The attendants wore formal gowns of melon voile over taffeta topped with a short-sleeved jacket trimmed with a self ruffle. They carried nosegays of pink sensation and white butterfly roses, gerbera daisies, gypsophilia, and English ivy. The bridegroom's father was best man. Ushers were the bridegroom's brothers, Michael McMillan of Southern Pines, John and Glenn McMillan of Red Springs; brothers of the bride, Thomas Johnson of Chapel Hill; cousin of the bride, Ernest Overton of Charleston, S.C., and Keith Batchelor of Red Springs. Mrs. William Collins, Jr., of Richmond, Virginia, great-aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake which was made and decorated by the groom's T? J6 S'X tiered creamy white wedding cake was decorated with a hly of the valley and rose motif and adorned with fresh flowers. Mrs. Glenn Overton of Charleston. S.C., and Mrs. Max Morrison, Jr., of Southern Pines, aunts of the bride assisted at the punch bowl. The reception table overlaid with an embroidered and cut work linen cloth was centered with an ice sculpture and silver appointments were used. Mrs. Reid Grantham was in charge of the gift room.
