Woman and Man" and "We Made

grandmother were seated and "The
Lords Prayer" during the cere
mony.
The church was decorated with
arrangements of lavender and
flank*, ^sorted spring flowers
lanked by brass candelabra which
was centered with lavender and
white assorted flowers. The
windows were draped with minia
u?IVy "ntered ^th candles. Mrs.
Helen Edwards registered the
guests.
The mother of the bride wore a
floor length dress of baby blue
chiffon. The groom's mother wore
\2??r leIigth ?own of green
chiffon. Each wore white rose
corsages and Mrs. Viola Fulk,
grandmother of the bridegroom,
wore a peach colored floor length
^ gown with a daisy corsage.
?uGuCn.in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a formal weddine
gown of white silk organza, and
reembroidered Alencon lace, ac
cented with seed pearls. The fitted
bodice featured a sheer yoke of
English net, and a high neckline.
ne sheer bishop sleeves were
appliqued with Alencon lace. The

skirt had a flounce of Brussels lace
at the hemline extending into a
chapel train. The mantilla was
waltz length silk illusion with a
lavish border of Alencon lace and
accented with seed pearls. The
mantilla was worn over a matching
Juliet cap. She carried a
modified cascading silk bouquet of
white roses, white stephonitis,
white daisies, lily of the valley and
} mixed greeneries.
Maid of honor was Miss Sandra
Russell of Pinebluff. She wore a
floor length lavender gown. Mrs.
Linda McRae, sister-in-law of the
bnde, of Vass, Tammy Ranno of
Raeford and Miss Pearl Albright of
Siler City were bridesmaids. They
were also dressed in lavender
gowns. They all wore halos of
baby s breath. They carried modi
fied cascades of lavender and white
assorted silk flowers with white
ribbons.
Flower girl was Miss Monica
Collins, niece of the bridegroom, of
Raeford. She wore a floor length
dress of white eyelet with tiny
lavender flowers. The dress was
Cinderella style. She wore a halo of
tiny lavender silk flowers and
carried a white basket trimmed
with lavender bows.

ford, Mrs. Denise Whitaker of
Raeford, Mrs. Rochelle Collins of
Raeford, Mrs. Eileen Strickland of
Raeford and Lorraine McDiarmid
of Durham, all sisters of the
bridegroom were honorary brides
maids. They wore orchid colored
floor length gowns. They carried
long stem white silk roses with
greenery and white ribbons.

Rice girl was Miss Susan Frye of
Vass. She wore a pink floor length
dress and a corsage of white silk
daisies.
Best man was Archie L. Walters,
father of the bridegroom. Alan
Walters, brother of the bride
groom, of Raeford, John David
McRae, brother of the bride of
Vass and Ricky Bowen, cousin of
the bridegroom, of Aberdeen were
ushers. They were attired in pearl
gray tuxedos.
Ring bearer was Jonathan Mc
Rae, nephew of the bride, of Vass.
He carried a pillow of white satin
which contained the bride and
groom's wedding rings. He also
wore a pearl gray tuxedo.
A reception was held at the
Sheraton inn Convention Center in
Southern Pines. The buffet table
was decorated with lavender
ribbons edging the white skirts and
each corner accented with lavender
bows. Floral arrangements were of
white and lavender assorted
flowers.
The bride's table held a four tier
wedding cake, white with lavender
flowers. Punch from a crystal bowl,
and nuts, mints, bell shaped finger
sandwiches, sausage balls, cheese
balls and crackers and cheese
straws were served. Assisting in
serving were Mrs. Helen Edwards
Mrs. Doris Laubscher, Mrs. Ruth
McRae and Mrs. Dera McRae,
aunts of the bride.
After a trip to the beach, the
couple will make their home in
Raeford. The bride is a graduate of
Union Pines High School and
Pembroke State University. The
groom is a graduate of Hoke
County High School. He is em
ployed by Aberdeen Coca-Cola
Bottling Company in Aberdeen.
PARTIES
Mr. and Mrs. Archie L. Walters
hosted an after rehearsal dinner at
the Lakeview Presbyterian Church
Saturday night. Attending were
members of the wedding party,
their guests a,nd close relatives.
The bride was given a shower by
Mrs. Ruth McRae, Mrs. Helen
Edwards and Mrs. Doris Laub
scher on August 12 at the home of
Mrs. McRae. Guests were served
refreshments.

Mrs. Betty Walters, Mrs. Vera
Rogers, Mrs. Jimmie Fulk, Mrs.
Connie Ellis, Mrs. Mary Baker and
Mrs. Nancy Baker on August 23 at
the Community United Methodist
Church. Guests were served re
freshments in the bride's chosen
colors.
The bridesmaids' luncheon was
held at the Sheraton Inn. Hennings
Restaurant in Southern Pines on
Saturday.

Is Honored
With Shower
Mrs. Ann Richards and infant
daughter, Jennifer Michelle, were
honored at a baby shower on
August 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the home
of Mrs. Alice McVicker on Hwy.
211 West. Hostesses for the occa
sion were Mrs. Frances Gordon
and Mrs. Selina Ellington. Re
freshments of cake, punch, vege
table sticks, clam dip, onion dip,
mints and cheese rolls were served
after gifts were opened. Many nice
gifts were received.

Miss Willcox
Miss Mary Catherine Willcox,
September 11 bride-elect of Erskin
Betts, was honored on August 26,
in Sanford, N.C. with a miscellan
eous shower, at the home of Mrs.
Anita Wright. Co-hostesses was
Mrs. Jo Ann Harper.
Upon arrival. Miss Willcox was
presented with a corsage of daisies
and baby's breath.
The twelve guests, all co-workers
of the bride-elect, were invited into
the spacious den, overlooking
Quail Ridge Golf Course, where
many beautiful and useful gifts
were presented Miss Willcox.
Guests were invited to the dining
room where refreshments con
sisting of cake, nuts, mints, cheese
biscuits, potato chips and punch
were served.

Dickson, Mrs. R.A. Matheson,
Mrs. Lawrence McNeill and Mrs.
Chandler Roberts were hostesses at
a luncheon at the home of Mrs.
J.W. Walker at 1:00 p.m. last
Saturday.
A three course meal was served
in the dining room. Guests were
seated at tables centered with
arrangements of roses.
Miss Willcox was presented a
corsage of roses upon arrival and
assorted gifts from the hostess after
luncheon.

Sunday afternoon Miss Willcox
was honoree at a tea given at the
home of Mrs. Bobby Gibson at
Antioch from 3 till 4:30 p.m.
Co-hostesses were Mrs. Alfred
Leach, Mrs. Bob Townsend and
Mrs. John Balfour.
A large arrangement of pink
roses adorned the table in the
entrance hall where guests were
greeted by Mrs. Gibson and Mrs.
Bob Townsend. Miss Willcox, her
mother, Mrs. Palmer Willcox, and
the groom-elect's mother, Mrs.
Doris Betts of Pittsboro, received
guests in the living room, beside a
table with mixed summer flowers.
The dining table, centered with
an arrangement of white mums,
pink carnations, pink roses and
baby's breath, was covered with an
ecru embroidered cutwork linen
cloth. Mrs. Leach served bridal
cakes from one end of the table and
the bride-elect's grandmother,
Mrs. Bill Lamont, poured punch
from the bowl at the opposite end.
Guests served themselves to pastry
shells filled with chicken salad,
cheese straws and toasted pecans.
Miss Willcox was presented a
finger corsage of roses and baby's
breath and gifts of china in her
selected patterns.
Approximately 100 guests called
during the entertaining hours. Out
of town guests other than Mrs.
Betts, were Misses Susan Allen,
Debbie Stafford, Carrboro; Miss
Lisa Cottrell, Red Springs; Miss
Cindy Carpenter, Laurinburg and
Miss Robin Thompson, Greens
boro.
Neil Senter
Is Honored
On Birthday
Neil Senter was honored on his
70th birthday Sunday afternoon at
the home of his son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Julian W.
King at 213 Central Avenue, at a
surprise drop in. Other host was his
son, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Senter of
Fayetteville.
Members of his family, close
friends and neighbors gathered
from 3 till 5 p.m.
Guests enjoyed refreshments of
homemade ice cream and cookies.

To Hold Meeting
The Education Department of
the Raeford Womans Club will
meet on Tuesday, September 7 at
7:45 p.m. at the home of Mrs. John
G. Balfour. Other hostesses for the
meeting will be Mrs. Robert Gatlin
and Mrs. J.H. Austin.

To Hold Meet
The Raeford Friendship Club
will hold their regular meeting on
Tuesday, September 7, at 2:30
p.m. at the United Methodist
Church.

Mental Health unit co-ordinator,
will speak on "Responsible Medi
cine Use."
