Ar rangements have been made with the hospital's recreation depart ment to bring all those who are able and who wish to come to Southern Pines for the holiday event. Time of the Pig Picking dinner is set for 5 p.m. Chuck Fowler and the Mavericks will furnish the music for dancing beginning at 3 p.m. with WANC radio of Aber deen providing live radio coverage. Terry Knight, WANC owner, will act as master of ceremonies and judge of the Best Western Dress contest later in the evening. UTOf INCLUDCS HESS* Hoke High Runner Wins At Hendersonville Hoke High's Paul Hunt won first place in the Hendersonville Apple Festival Road Race on Saturday in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Hunt, running in the 5K (3.1 mile) race placed first in the 15-18-year-old age division. He completed the hill-studded course in ? time of 16:40 to place seventh over-all in a field of 411 runners. Four junior members of the 1EA Road Runners also competed in the 5K race. Allen Jacobs finished 60th overall and received an award for his 3rd place finish in the 14 and under age division. Ricky Chavis, Robert Jacobs and Don M. Woods, Jr., also ran with the team. The team will compete this weekend in the Lancaster, S.C., Road Race 10K and one-mile races. Long Wins Over-all Cub Regatta Trophy Michael Long won the over-all trophy for the Sailboat Regatta held Thursday night at Raeford United Methodist Church for Cub Pack 404. Twenty-eight boats, each as sembled and decorated by a dif ferent Cub, competed in the regatta in three age divisions. Long also won the event for 9-year-olds. The other winners and the runnersup in each age group were: 9-year-olds: Shayne McDonald, second. 8-year-olds: first -- Ryan Clark, and second -- Tom Wright. 10-year-olds: first -- Damon Dockery, and second -- Scott Edwards. The course, taught on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30, will investigate the art of the 20th century. The study of art criticism and aesthetics will be integral to the chronological analy sis of art created during this period. The art department also is offering two courses in drawing.
