Personals Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gentry, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jordan. Mr. and Mrs. Neill McFadyen, Jr., Miss Marsha Gentry, senior at East Carolina, and her school friend, Miss Eleanor Barnes, and Dewey Leach were among those attending the State East Carolina football game in Raleigh Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Niven at tended the Gentry reunion in Roxboro Sunday. They spent the night with her sister, Mrs. William Garrett, Mr. Garrett and family. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Teal vaca tioned last week at Holden Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Benny Thomas have recently moved to Cary where Mr. Thomas was transferred to the Carolina Power & Light Company near Raleigh. They formerly lived in Hartsville, S.C. Mrs. Thomas is the former Jessica Hubbard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Hubbard of Raeford. Mrs. L.M. Lester had as her weekend visitors her grandchil dren, Hilton and Paige Lester of Rocky Mount, Virginia. They were accompanied by their friends, Mike Greer and Candy Johnson, also of Rocky Mount, Va. Mrs. Chalmers Davis spent the weekend in Charlotte with her daughter. Miss Deborah Davis. They flew to New York Saturday for a sightseeing tour sponsored by Heritage Federal Savings and Loan. Mr. and Mrs. Grover McMillan had as their guest several days last week, Mrs. Edna Chalkly of Wil mington. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Senter and Mr. and Mrs. Graham Clark attended the Atlanta Braves baseball game in Atlanta over the weekend. Mrs. Bob Southwell of Kings Mountain, arrived Sunday for a visit in the home of her brother-in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Barnhart, and her father, W.P. Saunders. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse McMillan of Raeford, and Luther McMillan of Shannon, have returned home from a visit with Jesse's brother. Col. Raymond McMillan in Colorado Springs, Col. Mrs. Raine Willcox Thompson and daughter, Carol Willcox, spent the weekend in the home of Miss Ellen Currie. Mrs. Graham Dickson and son, George, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. were weekend visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Gatlin. Mr. and Mrs. William E. Garrett and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney O'Briant of Roxboro were overnight visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Niven Friday night. The Garrett's son, Steve, and the O'Briants son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Norris, also of Roxboro, were overnight guests of Mrs. W.T. Gibson. They came to attend the Gentry-Bounds wedding Saturday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Young of Monroe spent the weekend in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Young. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Davis of Charlotte and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Davis of Raleigh spent the weekend here with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sawyer of Greenwood, S.C. spent the week end in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Sawyer. Mr. and Mrs. Mack McNeill of Oarksville, Va. spent the weekend in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.J. McNeill. Education Dept Meets With Mrs. Balfour NFWC, Education Department of Raeford Womans Club, met last Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. John Balfour, with Mrs. Robert Gatlin and Mrs. J.H. Austin, as co-hostesses. Mrs. Neill McFadyen, president, called the meeting together and presided over the business session. Mrs. Robert Gatlin introduced Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stone, who showed slides and gave a very informative talk on their recent trip to Alaska. After the program the club members and guests were invited into the family room for homemade ice cream and cake. Mrs. Julius Jordan was welcomed as a new member. k UDC Holds September Meet The Raeford United Daughters of the Confederacy held its Sep tember meeting at the home of Mrs. Lillian Wood with Mrs. Marianna McLean, co-hostess. Mrs. Ethel Monroe led the devotional. Mrs. Wood, president, presided and lead the Ritual, the Pledge of Allegiance, and salutes to the flags. New hand books and Couriers were distributed. The chairman announced that a memorial had been given to the Galatia Presbyterian Church in memory of Mrs. Janie Townsend Monroe. Mrs. Sarah Lytch, Registrar, presented membership certificates to two new members, Mrs. Kath leen Jones and Mrs. Grace Malone. Plans for the scrapbook and projects were discussed. Announce ment was made of the State Convention October 10-13 in Raleigh and members were urged to attend. The Battle of Cedar Run, the program, was presented by Miss Isabel McFadyen. This was a battle in which the steady N.C. troops showed unusual bravery. After the battle "Stonewall Jackson" rode along the N.C. line and dropped his hat to the staunch men. It was also at this time that the Yankee bugler toying with notes, came up with the notes that became the well known "Taps." The poem of the month, "The Virginians of the Valley," was read by Miss Isabel McFadyen. During the social hour a sweet course with coffee was served by the hostesses.
