Books Close Voter Signup On Monday The books will close for voter registration on Monday. Per sons wishing to cast ballots in the upcoming November 2 general election should register before 5 p.m. Monday. Voters will also be able to cast "One-Stop" absentee bal lots beginning Tuesday if they plan to be out of the county on November 2. The One-Stop polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Board of Elections office on Elv/ood Street. 'Home Coming' At Dundarrach Church Sunday, Oct. 3 Dondarrach Church will hold "Home Coming" Sunday Oct. 3. Dinner will be served on grounds at 5 p.m. Preaching and worship will begin at 6 p.m. Rev. Kemper Fitch is the guest speaker. Special music will be presented at all Revival Services Monday thru Thursday Oct. 4 thru 7 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Rev. Fitch will preach each evening. All persons are welcome to attend services. Punk Contest, Dance- A-Thon Set A Punk Contest and Dance-A Thon sponsored by the Hoke County Youth Council will be held Saturday, starting at S p.m., in the J.W. Turlington School gym nasium. The "punk" contestants will be judged from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. A prize will be awarded to the contestant judged the "punkiest." The entry fee is SI. The dancers are looking for sponsors who will make donations. Monday, October 4, is the deadline for those wishing to register and vote in the November elections. The drive is being spon sored by the Hoke County Native American Council. Prizes will be awarded the dancer* who raises the most money and who completes the most hours of par ticipating. People who are not in the Dance-A-Thon but come to dance will be admitted for 50 cents each. The money raised will be used to help pay for the council's activities, including the Miss Teenage Hoke County pageant, which will be held in November. The council is an organization of the Hoke County Parks and Recreation Department. Coliform bacteria is an environ mental bacteria which is found in the soil and intestinal tract of warm blooded animals. The presence of coliform bacteria in drinking water indicates that some contamination has occurred. In an attempt to correct the cause of Hie contamination we have done the following: j We have flushed the water lines.
