Cox-Scarboro Wedding Vows Spoken In Monroe Saturday Miss Janie Carolyn Scarboro, ^ daughter of Mrs. Max Smith and "the late Charles P. Scarboro of Monroe, and Mitchell Maurice Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Cox, Jr. of Raeford, spoke their wedding vows, Saturday, October 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the Mesiah Episcopal Church in Monroe, in a candlelight ceremony. The Rev. Terry Taylor officiated. Mrs. Pam Senter of Fayetteville, organist, and Pat Huntley, soloist, | of Rockingham presented a pro *gram of nuptial music. Ms. Hunt ley sang "The Wedding Song" and "The Wedding Prayer". The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Charles P. Scarboro, Jr., chose a wedding gown of white satin with a lace stand-up collar. The long sleeves and full length gown were also lace trimmed. The overcape veil of illusion was seal sloped with lace and formed the full length train. She wore a wide trimmed wedding hat scalloped with lace and carried a bouquet of yellow and white roses with satin streamers. Mrs. Tricie Bowers served as matron of honor. She wore a gown of Emerald green featuring spaghetti straps with a crisscrossed bodice and skirt, draped to one side. Her bouquet was also yellow ) and white roses. The groom was accompanied by his father as best man. Tim Roberts of Wadesboro and Dwight Jackson of Raeford were ushers. After a cruise to the Bahamas Mr. and Mrs. Cox will be at home in Raeford where he is presently employed at Raeford Salvage Com pany. . Mrs. Cox graduated from Cen tral Piedmont Community College as a Medical Office Assistant. Mr. Cox graduated from Pembroke State University with a B.A. degree in Sociology. RECEPTION Mr. and Mrs. Max Smith were host at a reception in the Fellow ship Hall of the church following the ceremony. Miss Lisa Edwards ft poured punch. Catherine Edwards, served the tiered wedding cake and Mrs. Phyliss Roberts presided at the bride's book. Tea girls were Misses Heather Lookabill and Melisa Gulledge. REHEARSAL DINNER An after rehearsal buffet dinner was hosted by the groom's parents in the fellowship hall of the church on Friday evening. PRE-NUPTIAL PARTIES On September 25, the bride-elect was honored at a patio party at the home of Mrs. Gorden Brown of Wadesboro. Co-hostesses were Mr. and Mrs. Baxter Bowers, Jr., and Mrs. Rick Hildreth. During the evening snacks were ) served to approximately 30 guests. A dessert course and coffee was served before the game and during play Halloween candies and punch were served. At the conclusion of the evening prizes were awarded to Mrs. George King, high scorer, Mrs. Bobby Gibson, second high and Mrs. Avery Connell, low. A dessert course, coffee and nuts in the Halloween motif were served before the game. Mrs. Bobby Carter was high scorer of the club, and Mrs. Blue was remembered with a gift. Mrs. McNeill Mrs. John K. McNeill, Jr. was hostess to the members of her bridge club at her home on North Fulton Street on Tuesday evening of last week. Members and two visitors, Mrs. Luke McNeill and Miss Alma Ferguson, were served a dessert course with coffee before the game. During play candy, nuts and Cokes were served. Mrs. Frank McFadyen was the high scorer for members and Miss Ferguson, visitor's high scorer.
