'-V -{**.: ??? First Store Opens In Center On Wed. Sky City's department store will open Wednesday. November 10, in the new Raeford-Hoke Village Shopping Center on U.S. 401 south bypass and Cole Avenue Extension. The opening time probably will be 9:30 a.m.. Lee Pittman, the man ager, said Thursday. It will be the first of the three local outlets of chain stores to open at the center. The others -- Food Town supermarket and Revco dis count drug store -? are scheduled to open December 1. With construction work com pleted. stock is being moved into the store. Pittman said Sky City will employ 50 people here, most of them local residents. The store will offer men's, women's and children's clothing including shoes, sporting goods including hunting and fishing equipment, automotive accessories, bicycles, home appliances, hard ware including garden, toys, cameras, records, domestic goods and cosmetics. Pittman said the store covers 38,500 square feet and has six checkout counters, a service desk and layaway arrangement. He said it is the 71st Sky City store scheduled for opening, and another is due to open this week in Newland in the northwestern mountains, and another in Clinton the first of 1983. Sky City's home office is in Asheville, and the company has stores in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee. The store here will be open daily from 9:30 a.m. till 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays, Pittman said. Furnishings are being moved into the Food Town store, which will occupy an area of about 21 ,000 square feet, and Revco, which has about 8,500 square feet of space. The parking area has been paved in asphalt, and the big, high sign of Raeford-Hoke Village stands on the shoulder of U.S. 401 at the bypass entrance and exit to the center.
