A prize of $50 will be awarded to the school that obtains the most new recruits. Laura Tyler Tries For Miss Pembroke fc Thirteen coeds, including Laura ^ Tyler, of Shannon, will compete for "Miss Pembroke University" in the annual pageant Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the University's Performing Arts Center. Laura, who is a junior at PSU, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Tyler and is being spon sored by Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. The winner will recieve a crown, k trophy, and roses - plus a $500 * scholarship. Also selected will be the first, second, third, and fourth runner-up and a "Miss Congeni ality," who will receive a plaque. The girls will be judged on talent, an interview, and in evening gown competition. The beauty pageant is sponsored by the PSU Student Government a ^Association and produced by Jackie * Jacobs, a former "Miss Lumbee" who is resource and promotion director of PSU's radio and TV facility. In past years the winner of the "Miss PSU" contest has been 'invited to be 3 visiting queen at the N.C. Azalea Festival in Wilming ton in the spring. ' Christmas Parade F orming The Raeford Merchants Associa | tion invites all persons, groups, clubs and organizations in the area to participate in this year's annual Merchant's Christmas Parade. No entry fee is charged for those persons or units wishing to march, but each parade entry must be identified by name and must be in keeping with the general theme. All entries are subject to review by the Parade Committee for } appropriateness. Floats, mobile units and bands are especially needed. Prizes and other recognition will be given to the outstanding entries. This year's parade will be on Saturday, December 11, at 2 p.m. on Main Street, Raeford.
